Of course the material here could pass on the Historical thread, but the added hook is the modern day version of the same scene.

MORE MORE MORE I love these kind of things! LA changes so dramatically decade to decade, but I love seeing the historical buildings not only just there but in perfect condition. There's a lot of history in LA's architecture.

Doesn't look like smog in that photo so much as marine layer... the photos were probably just taken with differing weather conditions. Smog has a yellowish tint, whereas fog has a grayish tint. From what I understand, smog levels are infinitely better now than they used to be. Not saying there isn't still plenty of room for improvement though...

Its great to see how LA has evolved over time and how the density has increase, especially behind that temple there. The mountain behind it actually is like the island in Lost and can move throughout time and location. Last I heard it was somewhere in Kentucky putting on a bluegrass show.
