LRT/MONORAIL/MRT Train Announcements and Signage at the station.

IMHO our train announcement should be clear and use the proper voice. recently the new KJ line train announcement not so good compare to the previous one. the best train announcement so far is in the KLIA transit and KLIA express. The voice is clear and the pronouncation was good. Why lrt and monorail cant implement the good one...

The signages at the stations also need to change because the one that using now looks so bad.

anyone can share the interior looks for refurbished train for KJ line??

just saw it last 2 week in wangsa maju,it went for a testing i think, with a big banner on it's door shows 'Dilarang Masuk, tren ini sedang menjalani proses ujian'

the interior look exactly the same with the current 4-car... except for the livery/exterior, whereby it has a much bigger rapidkl logo on the front....

MRT signage inside the station in Bangkok much more clearer and informative compared to Malaysia (KJ Line, Ampang Line, etc). If I'm not mistaken, it's similar with Singapore.

I don't see any significant difference between the overhead directions signages you posted with those on KJ and AG lines. You need to compare stations with multiple significant exits such as Ampang Park LRT station and Dang Wangi LRT station to see those overhead directions signages. Don't you agree?

Regarding neighbourhood maps and exits descriptions, I would agree that both KJ and AG lines are lacking on it. Some stations have collection of neighbourhood photos and maps, but it seems those are individual stations initiatives rather than Rapid Rail wide project.

Agree. For certain stations with multiple exits like Masjid Jamek, Ampang Park, etc.

My recent visit to dubai..Can we have something more 'high tech' like this ? Its fast, convenient, interactive, informative and free...At very least we can place it at interchange stations like Masjid Jamek, KL sentral etc..

Taken at Mall of Emirates station (Dubai Metro)

Main function of a bus stop pole is to clearly indicate it is a bus stop to passengers and to bus drivers. A metal pole with a bus icon sign, does that well enough, last ages.
Some time back, we were discussing bus stops signage in this thread. I recently found this 144 pages report of about onstreet bus stop practices by over 60 bus operators in US. May be useful reading. ;-)

Good reference for our Klang Valley bus stop this US' TRB report
TCRP Synthesis 117 on Better On-Street Bus Stops 144 pages.

hopefully our mrt signages will be something like this. i really like the colour scheme of this signages. its not too late to the person incharge of our mrt signages to take the action.

I would like to see our LRT/MRT/monorail lines to include jingles (chimes) for each incoming train arrival. It does improve the mood.

Examples

Seoul

Osaka

Could we have any proposals in this thread for our jingles (chimes) in our local lines - anyone ???
Star wars? Just cause the Dark Disagreement is strong these days :troll:
Maybe just a simple two or three tone chime. So long as it's simple and effective (and can be heard clearly unlike the KJ line announcement).

Ah the Seoul metro trumpet jingle...a bit cheesy, had to refrain from chuckling when I heard it in Seoul, but I like the onboard jingle best...it has a traditional feel.

Also, just curious but what do you guys think of the current rail transit map?

Which one?
Are you referring to MyRapid's Klang Valley Integrated Rail Transit Map?
I guess so....doesn't SPAD have its own version too?
There are many version of the Klang Valley Transit Map in use by current operators/developers/regulators. I may be biased but I think MyRapid's is the best. ;-)

* MyRapid's 16 Jun 2014 - Klang Valley Integrated Rail Transit Map - corrected LEP station names, though published date still say 9 Apr 2014.
* SPAD's 22 May 2014 - Klang Valley Rail Transit Map - incorrect LEP station names
* MyMRT's 11 May 2012 - Klang Valley Rail Transit Map - incorrect LEP station names, but include MRT1
* KTM's 20 Sep 2011 - Klang Valley Rail Transit Map - no LEP

Update: Sent a feedback to SPAD's feedback form

Hmm...I'm torn between RapidKL's version and the SPAD/KVMRT version. RapidKL's version is easily readable, but then some bits seem a bit cramped and the ERL line could be longer. SPAD/MRT version is a lot cleaner (white background) but the text could be bigger.

SPAD should make a unified, standard version and then print them in small booklets like the London Underground/Overground map. Right now the map isn't exactly well known and mostly available on the platforms only.

Nowadays I prefer mobiles apps for these information. MySPAD mobile app (IOS and Android) is not that bad. It has the integrated rail map, actually using the MyMRT's 11 May 2012 version (instead of SPAD's).

When I visited HK MTR recently, I really find their mobile apps very useful.

hmm..true..but to spread the word there must be clear signs at the stations, something along the lines of "Checkout our app..it's awesome..srs m8".

Okay maybe something a bit more formal and informative, but I think map pamphlets would still be cool, especially for the first time rider.

Add-on: still counting down to the day where we ditch the LRT, MRT designations and go with a unified branding. My suggestion: KL Metro, with the 2 Komuter lines being kept separate. Our KJ line and Ampang line is very much a "metro" already, kinda like Paris metro minus frequency, plus the KVMRT would definitely fit into a "Metro" branding. Would be easier if there was a single brand. (kindly ignore Metrobus ehehehe)

Wow that's a pretty -bad- common Photoshop...

Well let's hope the new lines will mean a new life...or just a new signage...
