LRT/MONORAIL/MRT Train Announcements and Signage at the station.

IMHO our train announcement should be clear and use the proper voice. recently the new KJ line train announcement not so good compare to the previous one. the best train announcement so far is in the KLIA transit and KLIA express. The voice is clear and the pronouncation was good. Why lrt and monorail cant implement the good one...

The signages at the stations also need to change because the one that using now looks so bad.

^^The signboard says "Bandar Tun Hussein Onn 05" and icon "SBK". That could mean station no 5 of MRT1 SBK (Sg Buloh Kajang) line. But looking at MRT1 route map, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn is station no 26, and Taman Midah is station no 21. Mmm ... don't have other clue about that "05" portion.

Line Number 5 of KL Metro? Maybe?
Line Number 5 of KL Metro? Maybe?
how come? if SPAD wants to configure the numbering I suggest we followed German rail concept, assigned letter for heavy rail/commuter line and number for rapid transit line.

Line 1 : KTM Seremban Line
Line 2 : KTM Port Klang Line
Line 3 : RAPID Ampang Line
Line 4 : RAPID Sri Petaling Line
Line 5 : RAPID Kelana Jaya Line
Line 6 : ERL KLIA Expres
Line 7 : ERL KLIA Transit
Line 8 : RAPID KL Monorail
Line 9 : RAPID SBK (Should be.....?. Cant wait for the official name, rooting for Damansara Line)
Line 10 : KTM Skypark Line (I don't know its correct or not because I'm referring to Wikipedia, but it's just a branch line, why need to be complicated)
Line 11 : RAPID Johan Setia Line (we need to have a clear name on this)
Line 12 : RAPID SSP Line (this one too, need a better name)
Line 13 : RAPID Circle Line

list above refer to Wikipedia.

^^You may want to refer to SPAD's own maps. The new V2 2016 version versus older 2014 version. Screenshots of the legends of both below ...

^^Does the face lift include signages at the existing KJ, AG and MR stations? Do tell ejatidiaz after you read the tender docs. ;-)

Hoping for the installation of platform doors and better lighting. Oh and better info about areas surrounding the station. And please chang the fonts of everything, they're ugly.

And has anyone mentioned about the existing stations being unable to cater for the disabled? Especially the goddamn monorail.

I was under the impression that APL/SPL and MRL have been refitted to be more accessible nowadays. KJL has been largely accessible since day one.

Of course there may still be some glaring deficiencies with regards to PT usability for physically impaired as a whole.

Dunno where to put but:
Ktm does update the current train arrival time based on the train's location. Just that they didn't state how long it's delayed and the current location of train is announced through the speaker.

Yeah, they do, but not always. It's highly dependent on the whims and fancies of whoever is manning the station. Sometimes, announcements are done remotely through a central location. Even so, announcements don't always occur, and a person is more often than not, clueless as to what is happening while waiting.

Moving on, there is still a disconnect between KTMB and RAPIDKL. It very visible that these two aren't coordinating as much as they should be. KTMB is still pretty much living in their bubble of late 70s's style announcements and signage, and does not care much as to how the "others" are doing.

Okay, a posting for Gab who likes to know his bounds ;-)

RapidKL Kelana Jaya Line uses Northbound and Southbound on their internal signages that requires knowing which side of the station. I don't remember RapidKL using Northbound and Southbound elsewhere. They prefer to use "To Gombak" or "To Putra Heights" it seems.

Luckily they chose to use North/Southbound when it was Gombak to Kelana Jaya, so it still make sense when extended to Putra Heights. East/Westbound would be confusing on Kelana Jaya line now.

I believe in Britain, they use "Up Line" & "Down Line" or something similar. It would at least not be confusing than the North, South, East & West should the line suddenly moved to a different axis.

Do you actually mean New York? New York Subway uses "Uptown" and "Downtown". According to London Underground's "Sign Manual", they use "Northbound", "Southbound", "Eastbound" and "Westbound."

Well I never thought you guys are referring to the Commuter lines, i thought it was universal. As far as I'm concerned, either one, US or UK, used Upline & Downline on their mainlines.

sorry for OT , but please enlighten me how they would differentiate the upline /downline say for the UK's London-Edinburgh (East coast) corridor.

I suppose like the saying "All roads leads to Rome" , London serves as the epicentre? therefore , the "to London" tracks are considered as downline and vis Versa

Taipei Metro Passenger Information Display Animation V3.0

i like how they put the floor plan of the station to inform the passenger about the exit of the station.

Japan Passenger Information Display System

Hong Kong MTR Passenger Information Display System

Seoul Subway Line 9 Passenger Information Display System

After watching few countries passenger information display inside the train... they usually will announce the door will open at which side (left or right) except Japan where they will show "door on opposite side will open" / "door in this side will open" since they have TV in both side.

Malaysia don't really have these information either in Monorail/LRT/KTM.
