IMHO our train announcement should be clear and use the proper voice. recently the new KJ line train announcement not so good compare to the previous one. the best train announcement so far is in the KLIA transit and KLIA express. The voice is clear and the pronouncation was good. Why lrt and monorail cant implement the good one...

The signages at the stations also need to change because the one that using now looks so bad.

and the most important thing in announcements is the good voice and pronunciation. no matter what languages are they using.

KTMB, RapidKL, LRT, ERL, monorail etc etc must improve, or else they themselves will become the laughing stock in the whole wide world of public transport. One more thing, I hope the consistency is there. Hopefully not a day with announcement, the second day with no announcement. Or the next train don't have announcement at all. Or this station got announcement but the next station is either no or late announcement. Please make sure is always loud enough for audibility.

Sometimes its better if train announcements selection were not be made into a popularity contest.

Anyone remember the MRT logo thing...
that went well, didn't it?

Hi everyone, I have done a very brief redesign of the signage system of the LRT. Please leave a comment, and I will really appreciate it.

It is an idea that combines Malaysia identity and signage. Signage placement and more will be added on next phase of design.

I find it quite good, not bad, but will SPAD, KTMB, RapidKL accept your designs/ideas??? They are the final decision makers. GOOD JOB!!!
Maybe u could show how u handle the exit? I would recommend a solution similar to the Singapore's naming it A and B

My comment for this time, it's really stressful to see the signage because 1. it has a RED background; 2. it's SMALL.

The pictographic looks cool.

I actually think the opposite, this red color is good as you know that it is a public transport direction signage as soon as you see the color. It is also very clear in my opinion.

I believe a brighter red colour will be nicer and more visible instead of maroon red. Maybe the size of the font has to be increased a bit bigger. Besides, hibiscus red is also much brighter and lighter than maroon red. Maybe two-colour scheme is more than enough. Except the green colour arrow for the "EXIT" part. This is simply because too many colour scheme might confused people with eyesight problems especially the colour blind person. That's why when you see all the hardcopy or physical signage in overseas stations, they tend to be less colourful. Even like this signage, the colours are meant to indicate different lines only. And each signage for the train route indications are quite mono in colour. White colour font, with one single colour background only.

There is a purpose/reason why many metro physical/hard copy signage indications in overseas metro/subway system try not to be so colourful except for "line" indication purpose. Simply because people with various eyesight problems are easily confused by multi colour schemes, not just colour blind only:

PARIS METRO, the colour of the signage is simple and plain, except for "line" indications.

Even for this "colourful" bus stop signage, the writing or font area tend to be black and white only.

When we design a hardcopy or physical signage, many things have to take into considerations, including people with all kinds of visibility or eye sight problems. Kindly look at the bus stop sign below, the font or writing area once again present in black and white scheme.

But I understand that it's also the culture, mindset and mentality of many local Malaysians that are more inclined and prefer to multi-colour scheme. Like this hari raya, when you visit your friend's house, the colour scheme of the decoration is so obvious.
Well, this is only the company logo, they can put whatever colour they want to show, but when it comes to official public physical hard copy signage at the various public transport stop or stations/terminal. They'd better use their brain when it comes to the design, practicality, VISIBILITY and convenience to the public.
Even the LCD display of station stops inside of Seoul metro rolling stock is not very colourful and stick to plain mode either, except for the metro line colour. And the audio/sound announcement are announced in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese although Koreans are famous for their monotheistic and strong Korean ethnic sentiment/patriotism just like Japanese. And the announcement is so clear that's not even funny.

At the same time I think the spelling for monorail in Malay is monorel.

I think we should put "KJ13" before Masjid Jamek wording. Or just replace the lrt pictography with "KJ13".
