Wow! Very nice photo's!!! (but you seem to have left out the Sonangol/Torre Atlantico buildings and a skyline shot)... But very beautiful pics!!! :)

I really love the massive high density housing under construction in one of those photo's! Luanda seems to be the only country in SS Africa that actually is building high density housing on a large scale and not just smaller-scale apartment buildings/houses.

I also love the fact that Luanda doesn't play games when it comes to construction. They usually get it done!.. and in a reasonable amount of time!

Here's a pic of one of the downtown clusters of skyscrapers you didnt show, since maybe you forgot to show one. :)

I don't really approve of it because it is for poor people and the government won't spend money on keeping it maintainable. those buildings are far away from the city.it is just another case of keeping poor people away from the city and eliminating slums

by the way is this matthias offodile from angola? because i have been following up this forum and he has posted a lot on angola but i have never seen him type in portuguese?

He says he is Nigerian.

And honestly, it's a good idea to move some of the people that live in extreme poverty away from the city because you can't have a first class city filled with slums and beggars.

Yes, there definitely will be Job Creation that will significantly reduce the amount of poverty but there could only be so many jobs to go around and the people without jobs are probably no better sitting in the center of Luanda.

My pleasure...I like the action taken in Angola and not the endless lip-service that we´ve have been accoustomed to.

As for the poor 1 million housing units are currently u/c in Angola

Yes, 8 years of peace ...but JUST 5 years of reconstruction!

Building buildings is just that, although the economy rises as a result of it and it creates temporary employment, that’s about as much and as far as it goes.

Moreover, it’s hardly a measurement of real development, if it were…Hong Kong would be the richest administrative region on earth.

Matthias is just a highly shallow and materialistic person, who measures growth & development through the lens of superficiality.

:cheers::banana:

Your criticsm of Luanda is quite vindictive!!

Luanda has a concentrated cityscape, to your notice! And it also has sevral "new cities" mushrooming but ALL built by a masterplan like Abuja.

And it is not Angola´s only developing city (what a crap is this , please?) but you have not even taken an effort to cast a glance into the Angolan section....for you it´s just a country torn apart by civil war and that´s it....never to be reconstructed again.

As for me
: I am Nigerian (even if you and some other gyus don´t believe or want to believe it due to my negative crticism on Nigeria that I voiced in more recent times)...and if you don´t have anything else to add to a thread dedicated to Luanda than starting your silly childish rants, please just don´t visit my threads...I never feel inclined to look into yours.
