The notion of "Lusophonic" reaches beyond the dictionary definition of "Portuguese speaker". It extends to people who are culturally and linguistically linked to Portugal, either historically or by choice. The term does not have an ethnic connotation, in that a Lusophone may not have any Portuguese ancestry at all

I know that galician language is related with potuguese language, but, the people of Vigo speak portuguse as a mother tongue instead of spanish? anyways, nice thread.

Saludos.
Yes, but the concept of lusophone that I used is the concept that extends to people who are culturally and linguistically linked to Portugal, by any way, either historically or by choice. The term does not have an ethnic connotation, and it has a connotation beyond the linguistic.

In the case above, some cities have almost no Portuguese speakers, but all are historically or culturally linked to Portugal

Maringa looks very green!
It's a planned city, following the principle of "Garden City" of Ebenezer Howard

Another curiosity about the city: The city's Cathedral, the cone-shaped structure of the picture, is the 10th heightest monument of the world, with 124 meters (406 ft) height
