I couldn't find an existing thread.

Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport just got a brand new terminal. In my humble opinion, it's one of the best in Ukraine.

That is very nice terminal, just in time for the European Soccer games..
^^ Indeed, one of the best airports in Ukraine. :)

Does it offer international flights like other Ukrainian airports?
Wow!!!!

Really beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:applause:

Yes, it does. The following international destinations can be reached from this airport:

  • Athens;
  • Istanbul-Atatürk;
  • Timişoara;
  • Prague;
  • Wroclaw;
  • Krakow;
  • Naples;
  • Vienna;
  • Dortmund;
  • Munich;
  • Venice-Treviso;
  • Warsaw-Chopin;
  • Moscow-Domodedovo.
Looks like they are still missing connections to almost all major European airports such as LHR, CDG, FRA and AMS.

Hopefully that will change in the near future now that the new terminal is open.

Now Asian soccer fans who wishes to see UEFA in Lviv should probably make a stop-over to Istanbul in Turkey. That's probably the nearest.

You mean, London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam? :eek:hno:

LWO is mostly served by Star Alliance members: Austrian, EuroLOT, LOT, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines (plus UTair and UTair Ukraine as possible members). SkyTeam is only represented by Czech Airlines.

As a result, most of the traffic is being concentrated in Star Alliance's main hubs (expect Lufthansa). Due to this and giving the small amount of passenger traffic, I don't think that we will see "super-hubs" as LHR, CDG, FRA and AMS being served.
Moreover, as you can see Lufthansa is not even serving FRA.

Unfortunately, no long haul routes will be in the near future. Not enough O&D traffic to generate them. As you already said, Istanbul is an option. Also, a stop-over can be made in Kyiv.
^^ Thanks for answering. BTW, what types of aircraft the airport can accommodate?

You are welcome ;)
The maximum types that can be accommodated are B767/B787/A330.
The larger jet can land, however I am not sure if the steering ways are capable to handle them.
I've been in LWO few weeks ago, but just today I managed to add some info on my blog: https://sites.google.com/site/tkspotter/home/what-s-up/thereisnoplacelikelviv

I believe you were unlucky to try the new terminal.

No. Actually I arrived and departed from the new terminal on my flights from/to Warsaw. Moreover I had a chance to see it all and take those shots at the new apron:
