This tread is about public transport in Lviv. Map from urbanrail.net:

Opened in 1894, it's one of the first electric tram networks in Europe. It consists 10 routes and 72,9 km of track. Network's gauge length - 1000 mm. Some of the trams - Elektron T5L64, maden in Ukraine:

And familiar in post-USSR Tatras:

There are plans to build new tram line towards Sykhiv - one of the cities's largest living districts, south of city centre. Map:

Contruction was started in 2008 and planned to open in 2011. But all works were put on hold after year. This January European Bank for Reconstruction and Development agreed for loan, but because of situation... Nevertheless some tram sections were built:

How many modern trams (Elektro) are in service in Lviv? How many trams (modern+clasical) are in service in the city?

There is only one Elektron tram in service, in total city has 151 units of old trams

Rumour has is it, that work started around 1989 for a fast-tram tunnel with three stations, similar to Wolgograd e. g.. Never found out if this true or if there even have been works carried out.

Actually, back in late 80s there was an attempt to build rapid tram (LRT) with underground section. Here is the retrospective of project by its head, R. Pavlyk, but unfortunately, its in Ukrainian only.
Quick summary: by the end of the project (due to late 80s economical collapse of the USSR) one vertical tunnel was completed, in palats Pototskih backyard, which was connected by 400 mm pipes to compresor station build in Tram depo #2. Also, surface part of the route was built, which now acts as southern half of tram route #3.
After cancellation of project in early 90s (both due financial problems, and political games) all excavations were refilled.

Recent progress on new tram line to Sikhiv district, taken from Lviv subforum. Construction works had been restarted last month after finding proper funding via loan from EBRD:

As for plans, you can see on page 1. Opening scheduled for late 2015

UKRAINE: The second OmniTram 100% low-floor tram developed by the Electrontrans joint venture of Ukrainian manufacturer Electron and Transtech F&E of Germany is expected to enter service in Lviv by the end of the year

The first five-section car was delivered to Lviv in July 2013, and is now in operation on the city’s metre-gauge network which is powered at 600 V DC. The second car is a unidirectional three-section vehicle, 19·5 m long and 2300 mm wide. All eight wheels are powered by 50 kW motors, giving a maximum speed of 70 km/h, and the ability to climb gradients up to 8%
