Hi, another first here, enjoy:

A group of companies within Bahrain is again demonstrating the country's leadership of the region's money markets by providing a national m-Commerce service, which will revolutionise the way customers pay bills and conduct business transactions.

The new service - which enables customers to conduct financial transactions using their mobile phones together with the telecommunications infrastructure and banking systems - has been commissioned by Ahli United Bank, American Express, Batelco, The Benefit Company and On Air Commerce Company.

This unique partnership between banks, a financial clearing house, credit card issuers, a mobile telecoms operator and the utility sector is the first collaboration of its kind in the Middle East.

The project will allow customers to use their mobile devices to pay utility bills and settle credit card statements, along with offering the ease and convenience of conducting ATM and banking transactions such as balance checking and fund transfers while on the move.

Initially the partners will launch the service on a trial basis in early June, with a view to rolling the service out across the nation in the second half of this year.

All of the collaborative partners involved in this project are committed to delivering a successful solution to customers by offering an easy-to-use and secure payment solution. In addition, they are all dedicated to promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain as an innovator and leader in the finance and telecoms arenas.-
