Maastricht, with her 120.000 inhabitants, is the capital of Netherlands' most southern provence Limburg.
Maastricht is located on both sides of the river Maas as it enters the Netherlands from Belgium and
dates back to early Celtic times (around 500 bc.)
Today the city houses a university and is known for it's Bourgondic atmosphere and laid back citylife.

To get a small taste of this wonderful place and it's people i'll take you on a autumn afternoon stroll through town...
By photo's that is... Lot's of em :D

So charming! Wow!!! And you caught some really great moments there too. :) (Yellow tree, girl on bicycle beside lamp, etc.)

Also I LOVE that big bookstore in that old space with the coffee shop incorporated.

Thanks ppl!

That bookshop is indeed housed in the Dominicanenchurch which lost it's sacral function
some 200 years ago. Besides bookes and good coffee it also serves as a podium for
lectures and debates and such...

Since Christianity is on it's way back in the Netherlands a lot of old churches and
cathedrals get alternative functions.

(oh, and now really should visit Antwerp again :) Been there long time ago but can't
remember much. Most Dutch are very enthousiastic about Antwerpen...)

Great pictures Seb, you really captured the place very well. I used to live there and it is still my favourite Dutch city, precisely because it is not so typically Dutch. I live in the The Hague nowadays, but would love to have an apartment in Maastricht, just to hang out there in the weekends :)
