R85 million extension to Hout Bay’s Mainstream Mall
Published: August 12, 2014

Construction of the Midpoint phase of Hout Bay’s Mainstream Mall is proceeding well and the opening is scheduled for December 2014.

This is the fifth extension to Mainstream since the 1990s, and will be anchored by a 2 800 m² Pick ‘n Pay store, which is in addition to the 400 m² Pick ‘n Pay Clothing store at Mainstream.

“The Midpoint phase represents an R85 million investment in Hout Bay, and is sure to change shopping patterns along the Atlantic seaboard. With the MyCiti buses operating through Camps Bay to Hout Bay Mainstream has become a convenient destination for shoppers who prefer not to travel by car. We expect even more shoppers from nearby suburbs to patronise the mall when Pick ‘n Pay opens,” says Stanley Dorman, managing director of Cape Coast Properties, the developer.

Mainstream has more than 50 ground floor tenants including national retailers such as Woolworths, Clicks, and CNA, as well as Flight Centre, Vodacom, Cell C, Absa and Nedbank. Above the shops are a number of offices and apartments.

The shopping centre is situated along the busy tourist route through Hout Bay to Cape Point, next door to the historic Fisherman’s World village. It offers easy access, ample parking and 24 hour security.

Only a few retail spaces are still available to let in the Midpoint phase, including one that is ideal for a café or a restaurant, with a patio overlooking a grove of Milkwoods and the Baviaanskloof River.
