Four Seasons Hotel and Resort Ahead of Schedule
3rd June 2012, MANAMA: Following its official launch earlier this year, Four Seasons Hotel and Resort Bahrain has confirmed the project is currently ahead of schedule, with the fifth level of towers now completed and over 500,000 working hours logged on site. The project is predicted to result in direct and indirect economic benefits for Bahrain that will equal approximately USD300m over the next five to seven years, with GCC tourism expected to contribute strongly to these benefits. Contractor Six Construct – who have developed major projects in the region such as the Burj Khalifa (Dubai), Ferrari World (Abu Dhabi), Khalifa Stadium (Doha) and Bahrain’s North Manama Causeway – have a 1200-strong team, who are utilising a two-shiftwork pattern to optimise project completion.
Commenting on the progress, Mr. Bob Vincent, who is overseeing the project’s implementation, said: “This project is key not just for the real estate sector, but also on a national economic level. As one of the cornerstone components of Bahrain Bay, we all understand that a project of this scale is an opportunity to demonstrate Bahrain’s emergence from the global financial crisis, and its sustainability as a GCC tourism hub. We have been extremely impressed with the way Six Construct has initiated the startup stages of the main works. Working in partnership with a number of local contractors, they have responded to a demanding critical path and timeline. As the project further evolves towards our opening in 2014; we will see further evidence of how the construction, tourism and government sectors of Bahrain work together to support growth opportunities.”
The Four Seasons Hotel and Resort Bahrain demonstrates that Bahrain is committed to emerging from recent issues with a strengthened economy, as Vincent confirmed: “The project shows a commitment from the investment community in future GCC tourism both on a business and leisure level.”
Mr. Philippe Dessoy, General Manager, Six Construct Middle East, identified local resources as a key factor in the speed of progress. He commented: “Six Construct has had implemented projects in Bahrain over the past 30 years. We have been impressed on this particular project with the skilled labour available locally and their ability to respond to our demanding schedule. We have been able to identify high quality sub-contractors with efficient material supply lines and hard-working teams.” Six Construct were selected for this landmark project due to their renowned portfolio of large scale construction projects delivered on time, without compromising standards.
At 201 meters tall, 50-storeys, and 263 guest rooms, the hotel complex is set to bolster Bahrain’s hospitality credentials, and set a new standard in luxury accommodation. Complete with 5-star spa and leisure facilities, suspended ‘Sky Pod’ restaurant, first-class banqueting and conferencing capabilities, four fine dining outlets, and panoramic views for guestrooms and suites, the project has been designed to lead Bahrain’s hotel offerings into a new era
