Great thread idea.
Has Airport City started construction yet?

As part of our ongoing role as masterplan guardian for the ‘Airport City Manchester’ project we were commissioned to prepare proposals for a central bridge across the M56 motorway spur, providing a new footbridge connection between Airport and Airport City.
The new bridge will provide access for cyclists and pedestrians in neighbouring Wythenshawe and the wider area to the employment opportunities at the Airport.
The footbridge will also enhance the plausibility and deliverability of the early phases of the masterplan, driving early fundamental connections and informing the urban grain to be developed.
Is that a ramp off through the building?Surely that can't be the final design for the bridge? It's supposed to provide access for cyclists but how's that supposed to work - do you cart them up the stairs?
Not to mention wheelchairs...
Could be but it seems to end in mid-air. I thought it was just a reflection in the renderland glass. Is that a ramp off through the building?
Think there is a lift for the disabled. Might not be final design.Surely that can't be the final design for the bridge? It's supposed to provide access for cyclists but how's that supposed to work - do you cart them up the stairs?

There's a planning app for each of the three spansGreat news Jabez.. I do hope they're doing the other two bridges in the sequence of three (and the other ones to the side over the river)? It would seem inconceivable not to, but it's been such a long time coming as you bore witness, that I'm taking nothing fit granted until it's done. Will tie in nicely with the Medical Qtr, Chetham's works that are ongoing!

Can't see anything for the span over the river mind
