Don't you find Manchester is a poor relation when it comes to live streaming webcams. Our webcams update at up to 30 second intervals, that's not a cam but a photograph. Other towns and cities have live streaming cams, so why can't we?
I agree mate... I can only find two anyway... :(
WHERE HAS SHAWCAM GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was a bit shit
Our 'skyline' cam is a bit naff, somedays Beetham is in it, somedays it ain't! And it doesn't really give a true reflection on the full skyline now does it?!

Exchange Square Cam is a bit pointless, be better suited in Picc Gardens, or Market St tbh.

Sort it Beeb - hopefully, when they move to SQ, we'll get a good skyline shot from there and a nice plaza cam!

Love the Oxford Road cam though - proper city view.

a 'bit'?
is it worth me setting up a 'the view from my livingroom' cam or would that be an open invitation for rangers fans to turn up uninvited?
It's a shame MEN no longer do their streaming webcam. They had one pointing towards Deansgate from their old offices that ran at maybe a dozen frames a second, which isn't bad really. I think they had one pointing towards Piccadilly Plaza too, didn't they?

I like the BBC's Oxford Road/Street one too. The Palace Hotel one, on the other hand, always looks a bit desolate to me, such is the angle of the camera. For some reason, it always reminds me of Tatooine in Star Wars, especially at sunset.

Very true. The webcams of Manchester are bobbins. Even the image used behind Gordon on NWT is a bit ropey.

I did run a live webcam of the triathlon in Salford last year, but I'm not in the right position to do that any more. :(

There is one live streaming cam in Manchester which is inside the Manchester Conference Centre.

By the way, ignore the time, they have problems with the reliability of the clock.
Shawcam is still working, i've just checked. You can here the sound on the street with these too.

By the way, checkout the words, Bus and... on the left hand cam. There is a giant arrow pointing the opposite way to the words, puzzling!!

View from Manchester Rd, Bury. This cam updates very rapidly and is almost streaming.

P.S. Wouldn't it be great to have a couple of live streaming cams on top of Beetham Tower.

2 webcams on Ashton-under-Lyne market (the first one shows construction of the market hall that was destroyed by fire a few years back):

The soon-to-be Droylsden Marina webcam:

I always thought that a series of streaming webcams from a number of different cities around the world would make for a great little diversion within Urbis.

sounds good.

there are some webcams on honolulu where you even get to control them (rotation) and the image streams at several frames a second.
