8990 Holdings buys big Tondo area

Mass housing developer 8990 Holdings Inc. said Wednesday it acquired two Tondo-based property companies for P1.61 billion in a bid to expand its landbank.

8990 Holdings said in a disclosure to the stock exchange it purchased 100 percent of Euson Realty & Development Corp. and Tondo Holdings Corp., which own 84,731 square meters of land in Vitas, Tondo, Manila.

MANILA, Philippines–Mass housing developer 8990 Holdings Inc. has invested P1.61 billion to acquire an 8.47-hectare landbank in Tondo, Manila, on which it intends to build a low-cost, mid-rise residential condominium community with an integrated retail hub.

In a statement on Wednesday, 8990 Holdings said the acquisition would increase its landbank in the metropolis and “further secure its position as the recognized leader in affordable housing nationwide.”

8990 taps Megawide to construct 39 towers

Mass housing developer 8990 Holdings has tapped construction and engineering firm Megawide Construction Corp. to build 39 mid-rise residential condominium towers with an estimated sales value of P53 billion.

The residential towers form part of two mixed-used estate projects of 8990 Holdings: one in Tondo, Manila and another on Ortigas Avenue Extension, making available by 2020 around 40,000 “affordable” residential units, each priced at below P1.5 million, 8990 Holdings president Januario Jesus Atencio said in a briefing on Monday.

Developer 8990 Holdings, Inc. said it has partnered with fellow-listed contractor Megawide Construction Corp. to build 39 condominium buildings for the former in its Ortigas avenue extension and Tondo, Manila properties.

The partnership will start with two projects having a combined gross area of 22 hectares covering 39,732 units – the 13-hectare Urban Deca Homes along Ortigas avenue extension township that will have 26 buildings with a total of 24,720 residential units, and the 8.4-hectare Urban Deca Homes in Vitas Tondo that will have 13 buildings with a total of 15,012 residential units.
