Wow it's so cute! I like it. I didn't know it was like that, I've never actually been to that part of the GTA... yet.

Can you count the SUV's/Trucks? hahaha

Nice pictures!

But, isn't Markham a town rather than a city? ;)

Nope. Not in a defacto sense anyways. I'd call it a city despite it's ridiculous status.

It's still a town by official nomenclature.

Nearby Vaughan is a city though.

Yeah, so? What's wrong with someone casually calling it a city when that's what it's size essentially makes it? Sometimes, using official terminology is silly.

Why is it still a town, anyways?
Surprisingly charming. One of Canada's silicon valleys, the others being Ottawa and Waterloo. My sister works in Markham!
Thanks for the tour.

Maybe it's a town surrounded by a sea of suburbia? I think Vaughan was officially a town until recently as well.

Good question! Cities calling themselves towns seems to be a GTA thing.

Apparently so...the eleven largest towns in Canada are all in the GTA. Markham, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Whitby, Ajax, Newmarket, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton, Aurora, and Georgina. Only with #12 Lakeshore do we move over to the Windsor area :speech:

downtown unionville is very charming. And to think they almost tore it all down to expand the roadways.
Should take some pics of the actual downtown Markham along Hwy 48. Sometimes I think Markham itself forgets that is the downtown.
