Visited Marseilles today.

It was windy.

There was a Zinedine Zidane mural before there:

City center living has a different meaning from the rest of France there.

Basilica on top of the hill is an icon of the city.

The view from there:

OM home stadium

What is that thing in the top left corner?

Ronald and the Colonel don't look all that friendly.

Some greenery in this side street.

Parody of this online dating service. I didn't see any rat for once, pretty unusual in Marseille.

Lots of large cruise ships there for some reason.

Monumental stairs to the train station, where tragic events occured a few weeks ago.

Very mediterranean looking, great street art too.
Great, very nice photos from Marseille
I’ve long been interested in Marseilles, and want to visit; so Interesting pictures.

I get the feeling you don’t much like the city?
^^ I visited Marseille on a short day trip from Avignon and I pretty liked the city, maybe because I like big cities. But it's not my favorite city in the region. It has a nice natural setting, but hadn't enough to offer for the visitor, in my opinion. For great and ancient monuments, you'd better visit some cozy and historic cities like Nîmes, Avignon, Arles...
But that was 15 years ago, I was told Marseille changed a lot since than.

Sorry, I had forgotted about replying to you! The city is definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the region. I wouldn't make it a long haul journey destination on itself though, but hey that's my opinion. As Benonie, it doesn't have the richness of other cities despite its very long history.
It's a very interesting city to get lost in though. It's one of the few cities that haven't gentrified much, much akin to Naples. I wouldn't live there though, Paris is about as chaotic a city I can tolerate.
