Now that the demolition of the Ceres brewery's old industrial site in central Aarhus has started and the first construction is set to start soon, I thought it would be a good idea to finally get a dedicated thread to this great development.
Description
The second largest Danish brewery group Royal Unibrew decided to close its brewery in Aarhus in 2008, which was started as an independent brewery in 1856 with the name Ceres, before it ended in the hands of Royal Unibrew through several mergers and consolidations on the Danish market for soft drinks and beer in the 1980's and 1990's. Now Royal Unibrew has its headquarter in Faxe and production in Faxe and Odense.
The brewery has been closed for four years now and the first construction is ready to begin in autumn 2012, which is the first step in the transformation of the old industrial site in the heart of Aarhus and next to the river of Aarhus, to a new dynamic and multifunctional city district. The plan includes the construction of buildings for housing, education, retail, office, cultural purposes and perhaps a hotel. The beautiful garden that belonged to Ceres and closed off to the public will in the future be opened and function as a new park for the citizens of Aarhus and the inhabitants of the new district.

The new urban district has received the name "CeresByen" (CeresCity in English, and I wonder why they did not coin the English name instead?), a logo and a website for branding the development.
