According to a new gallup poll, MD residents don't seem to have much state pride

My ancestors abandoned the state roughly three-hundred years ago. It's been a pile of crap since.

If it weren't for the weather and taxes, Marylanders would easily say that this is one of the best states to live in.

I would live in easily live in Maryland over places such as Nevada, Florida, Louisiana, or Nebraska. Sure it is an expensive place to live relatively speaking, but the quality of life surpasses most other states by far plus the huge federal government presence makes the area virtually recession proof.

40 years of Annapolis being held hostage by democrats and crime from Baltimore and PG County that spillover into other areas have damaged the state's image with it's residents.

Well, those same Marylanders keep electing officials that keep making the state worse, so...
Maryland is a beautiful state but it just can't compare to Virginia. Considering that's Maryland's biggest competition, I think it's obvious why so many say the would rather live somewhere else. But Maryland is a top 10 state imo and would be a top draw if it wasn't so close to 2 of the most dynamic, naturally beautiful and economically prosperous states of North Carolina and Virginia.

Problem with Maryland is Gov. O'Malley and the rest of those Democrat Liberal traitors who have turned Marylad into a sanctuary state for illegals.

Ha! You have to be joking if you think Maryland is liberal. Democrat =/= liberal. It's only liberal compared to nutty states like Oklahoma.

If you don't think MD is liberal, you are obviously on the outer fringe of the left.

It is a liberal state, every damn liberal goal this state has pushed under O'Malley. Sanctuary state for illegals and drivers licenses, Dream Act, strict gun control, raised taxes and new taxes, legalized gay marriage, decriminalization of marijuana, etc.

The states laws are liberal-democrat, although that doesn't mean most of the counties are liberal or the people.

I know like how the hell can you not think Maryland is liberal this state went from center to left in the last few years alone.
The only liberal running for governor is Heather Mizeur. The rest are centrists like most Maryland Dems.

You see centrists as liberal because they're not conservative. Much of the so called liberal things you guys are claiming would have been done under Republicans 35 years ago. The entire country took a hard right after Reagan and Co. Even Reagan was for gun control.

The socialist in Annapolis is nothing new and have been elected over and over, thus making a majority of the residents like minded.

You're an extremist right winger to think Annapolis is filled with socialists. Raising minimum wage to 10.10 over a 4 year period, loaded with exceptions, is nowhere near socialist. I could only wish Annapolis was filled with people even somewhat socialist.

More thinking, less Faux News.

Definitely love my state and would never consider states like Virginia or North Carolina

I thought so too, until I got sick and am now on a fixed income. The state is absolutely beautiful and rich in both architecture and history, but the state is also expensive and that is the downside.

I have lived in 5 different states (CA, UT, FL, RI, MD) and MD is my favorite. I also find it less expensive than CA and RI, traffic isn't that bad and the people are nice!

It depends on where you are driving as far as traffic is concerned. The capitol Beltway and I-270 are among the nations top most congested roadways.

Eight years of Martin O'Malley have killed my Maryland pride. I still love Baltimore, but if I ever left the city I would probably leave the state. This state has a lot going for it but leadership has made it a tax and regulation hell. I sure hope we see a new direction next year, which certainly is not Anthony Brown.
