Koporye Fortress

- Koporye (Russian: Копорье; Finnish: Kaprio; Swedish: Koporje) is a historic village (selo) in Leningrad Oblast.

- The first wooden fortress was built by the Teutonic Knights in 1240 (destroyed by Prince Alexander Nevsky the next year). The stone fortress was built by Alexander's son Dmitry Alexandrovich in 1280, but the Novgorodians razed the fortress two years later. Then it was restored in 1297 and rebuilt in the 15th/16th centuries.
