In plan view the starburst represents our Federation Star. ( The big star below the Union Jack on our National Flag )..in an architectural dialogue ambiguous embellishing kind of way : )
Some of Melbourne's largest projects are now reaching the construction stage, escaping the wrath of recent planning rules in the central business district that would have capped the height of multiple towers if they'd been planned today. The 317-metre Australia 108 will become the tallest apartment building in the southern hemisphere, an achievement that would not be possible under current planning rules.
Loads of rebar in that south-eastern pit. Crane base?
Crane being erected this weekend.

To All Neighbouring Residents,
RE: Fawkner St (Eastern End) Closure for Tower Crane Erection - Sunday 29 May
Please note that a section of Fawkner St (directly adjacent to the Australia 108 development) near Southbank Blvd will be closed off to all through traffic from 8:00am Sunday 29 May to 6pm Sunday 29 May. During this period, all residential traffic will be directed WEST along Fawkner St, towards Power St.
Brookfield Multiplex will have appropriate traffic management in place during these times to facilitate this change.
Normal traffic conditions on Fawkner St will resume at completion of the working day.
This closure is required to erect part of the tower crane on the construction site. All efforts will be taken to ensure noise levels are kept to a minimum on site, as well as ensuring traffic is safely managed on Fawkner St.
Brookfield Multiplex apologises for any inconvenience or disruptions caused by these works.
If you have any issues or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Site Manager - Richard Cutler on 0413 543 121

Amazing how line ball this and Aurora have ended up despite very staggered starts much like Vic One & Lighthouse ..
Yes I know (db2) A108 is taller by several floors but Aurora still has a very complex basement to fit out - hence I still reckon these two will be a photo finish.
