As many of you are aware a lot of old Melbourne photos were taken on glass plates.
These plates been so large actually hold a lot of detail that most of us never see.
The Victorian State library has scanned these plates and posted the scans as TIFF files.
With the help of Zoomit, I have put together a few pictures that you might find interesting.
Click the links and when the picture opens you can use your mouse wheel to zoom in and see the detail as well as drag the image with your mouse.
They may take a little while to sharpen when you zoom, depending on your connection.
Please let me know what you think. Should I do more or are they not as good as I think

I didn't know that the David Jones building in Bourke St Mall had those deer busts on the top of the building. Certainly going to look up next time I am down there!
