One question: Why did this indoor arena replace the Pyramid Arena? The Pyramid Arena was such an iconic arena, and now they had it replaced with an economy-sized arena?

^^Should have renovated the Pyramid instead of building a brand-new arena, like introducing more luxury boxes and club seats.

^^Bass Pro Shops are already planning to convert it into a superstore. The pyramid is a white elephant. FedExForum is a bigger white elephant. The latter arena sucks.

Which is sad, because I really wanted to see it become a casino/hotel, a la Luxor East.

Tell that to the U of M.

The Pyramid might have a more iconic exterior, but inside, FedEx is in a whole'nother league.

Why is that sad, the bass pro is suppose to have a hotel in it also plus waterfalls and live animals, aqauriums and such that will be much cooler than blackjack tables. Appearently the roof also leaks in certain spots so a well placed water feater could hide that haha.

How exactly is FedEx Forum a white elephant?

Maybe he thinks $250 million of public bonds isn't justified by the constant use it gets.

I think he was just fond of the Pyramid even with its shape that is antithetical to useful stadium design.

You just shouldn't have built that arena. The Pyramid is well-suited for an ice hockey game unlike the basketball-specific FedEx Forum. The Grizzlies shouldn't have relocated to Memphis and just stayed in Vancouver.

Do you have any idea just what caused the Grizz to leave?

Do you remember the Steve Francis fiasco?

... like hell they should've stayed.

Plus, Memphis is not a hockey town. That's St. Louis.

Besides, how does any of the issues you brought up make the arena a "white elephant?"

Strange. I wasnt aware that Memphis was a hockey crazy city.

Your comment about how the Grizzlies should have stayed in Vancouver is a dead giveaway that you dont know what you're talking about.

The arena is home of a NBA team and a major college team, thats 2 basketball teams and 0 hockey teams, why shouldn't they play in a basketball specific arena :bash:
The local minor league hockey team plays in a smaller suburban arena in mississippi
