Cebu's streets are way too NARROW to accommodate a BRT. Most of the major roads in the city are only 2 lanes. A BRT will take 1 lane. What will happen if a jeepney drops off a passenger or an old car breaks down on the only remaining lane?

BRT is only used in major streets not on all two lane streets. Besides you can have a BRT without a dedicated lane. Study the bus system from other countries in the world hindi ba maka kita ka ng mga buses on a two lane road. The one that is funded by the World Bank is called a BRT but technically it is just part of a mass transit system and you can call it anyway you want.

A BRT without a dedicated lane is called "BRT-Lite"! And that is precisely why I am against the Cebu BRT or any BRT proposed around the world because they are all BRT-Lite. The only true BRT is the one in Curitiba, Brazil and that ain't cheap! And once cheapness is out of the equation, so are all the arguments of the BRT proponents since cheap is the SOLE selling point of this pathetic system.

Anyways...from the great Michael Dino! :D

and a decade...

instead of improvising and try to correct the known flaws, its better to just dump it and try another grand, resource-consuming and more expensive idea. And not sure if it gets cancelled again.

Cebuanos can wait for another decade...F**k!!!

Its better to write off the "time and tens of millions" rather than spend additional billions and hassle commuters of Cebu for eternity if they do push through with this ill-conceived project... :|

I hope that the LRT project will not become "ill-conceived" too, after FS and detailed engineering design.

What matters most to them is that the consultants get paid. A racket they do and avoid getting jailed, you know?:eek:hno:
NEDA-ICC has decided to hire a technical service consultant to reevaluate BRT whether it is really feasible in Cebu.

^^ It's always feasible. People nowadays are looking at mass transport to avoid congested traffic. I don't know what NEDA is thinking. Adding private cars on the streets can cause a big volume of traffic. If they want more economic activity, they can send people to their destination in a shorter time by using this mass transport. They can just reduce road lane for private individual cars, add more lane for goods and services is that simple. Eventually, the private car owners will be encouraged to use this mass transport/transit etc. because of limited road lanes for them.

Give BRT a chance. Road space shouldn't be a problem considering jeepneys won't be allowed to ply on those routes. The number of cars will also be reduced as people would rather commute with an efficient mass transport system like BRT.

I have posted this already. JICA's study shows that BRT does not have sufficient capacity to replace jeepneys in N. Bacalso Ave. and 9 other road sections. In other words, if you phase out jeepneys, some people in some road sections will have no available public transport. What will they do then? Walk? :picard:

Do I have to post this again and again and again??

Yes. There are variations of "brt" used in other countries. They seem to be stuck on the "curitiba" model or the Chinese model being peddled by a some Chinoy in the country which would require a lot of space and construction. For example, MyBus is an excellent bus system, they can give them fully dedicated/exclusive bus lane on the main roads to qualify as a BRT. They can put the lanes on the median or on the side of the road, and all they need is bus shelter for stops or even just signposts requiring minimal construction costs, may be not even ROW acquisition.

Very good reasons, I must say! Good job, Sec. Tugade.
Sec Tugade doesn't get much love from me but I'll have to give him
It's crazy, why can't just Tomas answer Diño's criticisms of the BRT project instead of attacking him in his FB page. The concerns were valid and the stakeholders involve deserves an honest answer. Its much easier for Tomas to address those concerns than constantly challenge Diño into a debate. There's a reason why this project is still lingering in the pipeline for a number of years and not yet implemented

Simple! The proponent wants to get his hand on the cookies, never mind the effects it has on the city.:eek:hno::eek:hno::eek:hno:

Hindi makadesisyon ang mga top officials at ipapasa nanaman sa isang third party for another FS when a 2012 JICA report is already very clear. Common sense lang. :eek:hno:
