Melo Already Working On Approvals For Newly Purchased Lot Where 80-Story Tower Permitted.

Melo Group recently met with city officials about a newly purchased property at Northeast Fifth Street and Miami Avenue.
In July, the developer paid $10 million for a 45,433-square-foot surface parking lot once owned by the Christ Fellowship Baptist Church. Melo is required to build a 300-space parking garage for the church as part of the deal.
Turkish developer Okan Group purchased the other half of the lot, and has submitted plans for a 73-story tower.
Up to 80-stories, 1.09 million square feet, and 1,043 residential units are permitted. The developer is said to be planning rental apartments.

^^ Wow another possible 1000' footer for the "Magic City", man this is ridiculous!
Only problem is that the real estate cycle isn't conducive for any of them to even get built. Lot's of proposals but no ground breakings as of yet.

I think that's probably accurate right now. Honestly, until shovels hit dirt I can't get too worked up about any proposals for the simple reason a lot of them never wind up happening.

I mean, look how excited we all were (myself included) when OBP was first proposed. But that was a looong time ago at this point. So long ago that I think it's probably dead, unfortunately.

But here's to hoping otherwise, anyway!
I still believe the Swire tower will be the first. I think it would have a synergistic effect with their BCC.

We can safely assume that whatever Melo has planned for their half of the lot will be built. Melo's track record proves they build what they promise. On the other hand the Turkish developers are a different story. Will they be like the Argentinians that are building Aston Martin Tower out of pocket or like the Hollos that promise but don't deliver??? It is an exciting time in Miami and the best part is that different developers from all over the world are eager to invest in our city!! Take notice Related and Arquitectonica, you have to up your game and stop those shitty cookie cutter designs, Miami deserves better from you....:bash::cheers:

^^Hi, Chuck! I'm not really familiar with the particulars of who owns what there, so I can't answer that. Sorry, my friend.

Melo hasn't released renderings for there project yet. Rendering at the 1st post is just a placeholder.
