Cesar Pelli’s $450 million Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts will soon have a new neighbor, courtesy of Melo Group.
Miami’s Planning Department is now reviewing plans for a 497-unit residential tower called Melody that will neighbor the performing arts center. The residential unit count is the maximum permitted under zoning code.
Melody is proposed to be built at 245 NE 14th Street, on land that Melo bought last year for $9.5 million. The tower will rise 36 floors, or 467 feet. It will include 591 parking spaces – fewer than normally required, thanks to Miami 21 waivers. Also included: about 10,000 square feet of commercial space.
Melo Group's rather blasé 36-story, 497-residential unit – the maximum permitted under the zoning code – Melody is now under review at the Planning Department. As the name evokes, it will be just to the north of the Arsht Center, and will also include about 10,000 square-feet of commercial space. ExMiami must have visited in sunglasses and a hat, because they scored the renderings. Aside from the parking garage's vague reference to the Arsht Center's pronounced diagonal strokes, there's not a whole lot going on, from architects Itec Design.
