Anthem signs lease to build 21-story IT services hub at Tech Square

Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) announced Thursday long-term plans to locate its 1,800-employee IT center in a new 21-story building in Tech Square.

The Fortune 500 health insurer has signed a build-to-suit agreement with Portman Holdings, which will develop the 352,000-square-foot building near Georgia Tech in Midtown. Anthem's center will rise at the corners of 4th and West Peachtree streets. It will employ 3,000 people and create 1,800 new jobs. Anthem is expected to lease the entire building.

The 2nd image doesn't make sense as this is 2 blocks south of The Biltmore. It appears to be right across the street in that image. The image at ABC correctly shows it a few blocks away.
Logging in just to say how disappointing the designs from Portman Associates have been of late. Tech square had great potential to not only invigorate the midtown economy but to turn the tide architecturally into something that provides a vibrant streetscape and appealing additions to the skyline, especially given the frontage along the connector. Instead, between this and CODA we have two hackneyed and cold mutations on the glass box motif that won't do anything to celebrate what could've been a unique sense of place. Yay.

Not that this is a surprise to anyone in the know. Portman and company years ago evolved into a business more about development than architecture, and given their prominence in the city they've created a woeful cycle whereby they perpetuate urban mediocrity because that's what's so prevalent today thanks to their previous impactful works.

One of these days I'm gonna learn Photoshop and create visions of the city incorporating all the lost opportunities and undoing these weak compromises.

It could be much better but I don't mind this one so much given that it will consume just 1/4 of a block. CODA on the other hand is just sooo disappointing every time I see it and a huge missed opportunity for the neighborhood.
Doesn't help the sales pitch, IMO. Still a bummer, I feel.
The tower crane went up this weekend. There's a real sea of them over there now.
I imagine as CODA wraps up that might make it a bit easier for navigating the work site.

To me this looks like it should be at half of its final height instead of being topped out.

The tower is almost complete.

The middle section of the parking deck treatment features a "shimmer wall" that moves with the wind.
