I talked to a foreman on site and they have a year left on excavation as they are going to extend the hole all the way to West End Avenue making the garage footprint cover the entire city block.

Hole is now massive. Excavation moving along at a rapid pace. Maybe we will see a crane(s) by early spring at this rate.

Local media was told this project could be done in 2-2 1/2 years.

Broadwest to offer luxury Hilton hotel

Hilton will operate a luxury hotel at the future Broadwest project, now under construction in Midtown, Nashville Business Journal reports.

Huntsville, Alabama-based Propst Development and Franklin-based Chartwell Hospitality (which focuses on hotel projects) are co-developing the site at 1600 West End Ave., at the split of Broadway and West End.

The 250-room Hilton-brand hotel will be component of a 34-story tower that also will also include 220 luxury condos. On an adjacent site will rise a 21-story 510,000- square-feet office tower, with a plaza connecting the two buildings (pictured).

Both high-rises are expected to open by summer 2021, according to plans.

Nice feature on Bill Propst, Jr. , Chris Brown, and the team behind Broadwest. Some highlights:

- The deepest part of the foundation hole is 71.5 feet below street level.

- The underground garage, which will hold 2,500 cars, is 700larger than the massive one underneath Music City Center, and 300 more than the newly opened 6 story behemoth at the airport.

- Propst formed a joint venture with Signature Homes and have built close to 1,000 homes in the mid-state since 2011, and have about 1,000 more house lots to develop.

- The Propst family expects to build even more in the Nashville market beyond this $500 million project.

The hotel will be a Conrad Hilton. There are currently only 6 others in the U.S. The 14-floor, 237-room hotel will occupy the bottom half of a 34-story tower.

Rob Schaedle, founder and managing partner of Chartwell Hospitality, said some of the hotel's elements will meet 5-star standards.

"Our rooms are big and beautifully designed," Schaedle said. "The bedrooms and bathrooms are luxury, top-of-the-line finishes and layouts. Part of the luxury experience is not only the design but also how the design sets you up for seamless luxury experiences."

The rooms are being designed by Champalimaud, which has also produced designs for Waldorf Astoria, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis and other high-end properties.

There will be a restaurant and bar in the lobby, and a more upscale restaurant and bar on the third-floor terrace next to the swimming pool.

One tower already poured 7 underground floors for parking, and is now up to street level. Other tower at three floors underground, and garage floors for the third building, a low rise at the back of the property, is on the first underground floor. Project will have 3 buildings. Two towers and one low rise.
