Developer Landmark Properties announced plans this week to build a 28-story student residence tower at the corner, where a Domino’s Pizza currently stands.

The submittal to the Development Review Committee outlined plans for The Mark, with 18 floors of residences and an amenity level, atop a nine-story parking deck. The building would house approximately 800 students, with room for 380 cars. The parking would be wrapped by residential units and only be visible from a small sliver of Peachtree Place. Nearly 7,500 square feet of retail space would face 10th and Spring streets.

After seeing the new rendering, I'm a lot less enthusiastic about this project. This could be really ugly.
Construction fencing for The Mark is going up today and the Dominoes is now closed.

Groundbreaking should be soon.
What permit do they have other than the demolition permit? Do they have their land development permit yet?

Good point. The land development permit is not yet approved but is pretty far along.
The land development permit was issued on Monday and heavy equipment just showed up at the site today. This one is about to get underway.
Demolition is underway. The Domino's is rubble.

2 of the three buildings are down. The brick one on the right will also go.

Until I walked by this site, I didn't realize how different it would feel with the demo underway. This tower is going have big impact on the neighborhood.
Demo is done and they are clearing the site of the last of the debris.

Here's a shot of the whole site. You can see that the debris from the three previous buildings is gone.

I like the design in general but 1) I wish they (the architects) would try something else besides the exact same facade treatment as The Standard and University House, and 2) this will totally block every bit of sunlight for Aqua next door and that is why I dislike these wide ass buildings. When I see these I'm always reminded of the Vegas hotels with their long hallways.

This is definitely Under Construction now.

Making good progress. They are going to close Peachtree Pl both ways (it is already closed going west to Spring) for a month and a half soon to install a bigger water main from what I have heard.
