The tram of Burma pictured above was running in Mandalay. Tram was also present in Capital Yangon. Both systems are now closed.

Baghdad were never ran electric tram. Baghdad is now planning to build metro.

The tram of Korea pictured above was in North Korean Capita Pyongyang, which was closed because, destruction of the city in Japanese war. Tram returned in Pyongyang around 1991, as a modern system. North Korea also has a tram network in Chongjin. All tramways in South Korea (which were present in Seoul & Busan) are now closed. Pyongyang, Busan & Seoul also has metros.

Trams were also present at China in Anshan & Shanghai. Anshan’s system closed almost 3 years ago, where Shanghai’s system closed during the sixties. Previously Tianjin also closed its network around seventies, but recently, it returned tram in 2006. This system is the most modern, because it is the only rubber tired tram of Asia. Shanghai, Beijing & Tianjin also has metros.

Tram was also present at Turkey in Izmir. That system closed during the sixties. Previously Istanbul also closed its network around sixties, but later, it returned tram. In Istanbul, tram first returned on 1990 as a heritage system using same rolling stock which was used before. After that, tram returned as a modern system with low floor rolling stock on a separate system on 1996. Those both systems are present on European side. Lastly, another heritage tram system opened on 2003 on Asian side, using second hand rolling stocks from Gotha. So currently there are 3 separate tram systems in Istanbul, 2 are heritage and the remaining is modern. Istanbul also has metro.

Kolkata’s tram is the oldest operating electric tram in Asia, running since 1902, and only tram in India. Kolkata also has metro.

The tram of Japan pictured above is running in Hiroshima. It is the largest tram network in Japan. In Japan, trams are also running in Takaoka, Toyama, Fukui, Kagoshima, Okayama, Kochi, Kumamoto, Toyohashi, Hakodate, Matsuyama, Kitakyushu, Nagasaki, Sapporo & Tokyo. Sapporo & Tokyo also has metro.

In China, trams are also running in Changchun, Dalian & Tianjin. The third photo under Hong Kong is the light rail, not tram. Note – Hong Kong’s tram is the only double-decker tram system in Asia. Dalian, Tianjin & Hong Kong also has metros.

Beside that, trams are also present in the following cities–

1) KAZAKHSTAN – Temirtau, Oskemen, Pavlodar, Almaty.
2) UZBEKISTAN – Tashkent. (largest tram network in Asia)
3) NORTH KOREA – Chongjin.
4) TURKEY – Eskisehir, Konya, Antalya, Istanbul.

Tashkent & istanbul also has metros.
