Its a nice looking tower. This is the way that the NY Towers should have been done.
If the Uptown condos were a copy of the Empire State Building, then this should be a copy of the Chrysler Building, it even has gargoyles.

I really like this one. It would be nice if Toronto could make a trade: N1 for this.
Looks pretty good minus the gargoyles.
I like it, and I just noticed that the top looks like it was influenced by Victorian architecture.
Very impressive.
That's gonna look silly in Mississauga:D It would look great in downtown Toronto though...
I agree with DrJoe. I think this might be better if it did not have the gargoyles...
It's a complete farce...Daniels...what do you expect?

For one...if you want to emulate 20's architecture...don't try and mix in glass balconies. It's a total joke...like every one of their other buildings.

It's true, in this case, the developer says it all.
Gargoyles eh? - I wonder where we can expect Daniels to 'cheap out' to off-set the costs of the gargoyles? The tower does look pretty bulky

BTW, Empire is perhaps the ugliest building built in the last five years

Interesting. I don't see the resemblenence. BUT, it is much better than another copy of NYCCs copy of Empire. I do like the base, but why is it so long. Is it because another phase will go in later.
Gargoyles???? LOL

I can tell you excactly how they came to be...one of the idiots on the Daniels team who dreams up theme park buildings for their condos, saw the ones they created to put on the clock tower at Old City Hall, and decided they would add them to the rest of the mish-mash of crap they decided to paste onto this buildings.

Look at them...they look excactly like the ones on Old City Hall. I'll bet you anything that's excactly how they got them....and I bet that's the same company they will buy them from (they had to design them from scratch because the origionals from OCH have been missing for so long, and nobody really knows what they look like in detail).

Gargoyles Rock!

They're unique and rare, but probably would be more appropriate in downtown Toronto.

Hehe, Mississauga is entering the Gothic revolution a tad bit behind the others.:D
I'm kind of pissed at daniels...why do canadians try to be like americans...it gets worse and worse everyday...i do not like having "New York" inspired buildings as mississauga's tallest building...the whole idea disqusts me...they have have the rockafeller now in the works....plus empire at bayview....it's fukin sickening...someone grab me a puke bucket...soon toronto still be even more of a laughing stock along with mississauga....i was watching jon stewart the other day on his show that he has where he mentioned toronto....and his audience is in tears laughing...not good...how embarrasing
^ All the NY referrence are annoying, but the towers themselves look nothng at all like their namesakes - and really what does it matter what to sales and marketing wants to call the towers - does it concern me that Tide sounds silly for something the clean my clothing in? Should I be worried about getting salt water or fish in my washing machine?

No - it's all marketing and it doesn't have any bearing on the actual product itself.

I think Toronto copies everyone style actually. We got Vancity condo's on the Lakeshore, NYC condo & Yonge/Dundas (Times Square wannabe), and a sprinkle of Chicago styles up and about. I don't mind it that much as a whole . Nothing wrong with mixing styles up. It's using too much of one style that is more of an issue.
As for Jon Stewart, what exactly did he say first of all? And secondly, it IS a comedy show. Their meant to laugh.
oh, but I do have to add. NYC towers DO really really suck
It has many nice touches. It would be nice if we could catch this one but atleast it will be close enough to go out one afternoon and admire without driving for an hour.
What about adding an old water tower atop the building to really make it authentic????
