I love this city. It's just got it all. Beautiful old buildings nestled amongst towering steel and glass modern monoliths. No wonder it's voted the world's most livable city.

Visit by the massive Saphire Princess in 2004

The nightly fire show at Crown Casino, happens every hour after dark. always very cool to watch.

This/last years number one was a tie with meloburne and Vancouver, but the three years before it was Melb as #1.

Next year there will be the 2006 Commonwealth games here in Melbourne.

tallest in Melbourne ATM is the Rialto to roof ( 120Collins street is taller to spier). Blue one in this picture below.

And once its complete will be Eureka tower, at 297.3meters (maybe more if proposed Communications tower/ob deck is approved)
you can see it being built and rising in a few of these photos.

Eureka is the one on the left ^^^

Here is the forum link to the Melbourne section.

That's only for the EIU survey (noticable UK bias). In the Mercer 2005 survey, Vancouver's 3rd and Melborne's tied with Toronto at 14th place.

Take good pics of it for us (especially Opening and closing ceremony). It most likely won't be broadcasted in Canada next year.

The CBC has replaced it with figure skating and Curling. No other channel wants to broadcast it, because its ratings are generally really low.

I think both surveys are pretty much opinion pieces...they don't hold much weight.
