Who said marijuana is illicit?:bash::bash: Cigarettes and beer kills more people than Marijuana . Let them legalize this natural medicine.
Mombasa should be a tax heaven!
It's easy to say some things until you see what they mean to real people, not statistics. You may want to legalize marijuana but i can tell you it probably won't happen in Kenya in your life time. Marijuana is illegal in US federal law, but 10 US states and the District of Columbia have legalized its use. Because of the federal laws transactions for Marijuana business are only cash-based (banks and are federal regulation and supervisions). In fact, i can speculate that by the time it would seem beneficial to legalize it the tide against it will have probably started. The medicinal value of CBD is overstated and overestimated by people who prefer to be high, not anyone with any medical concerns. There are better medicines than CBD, so really no real added value except for self-entertainment.

Services are enough to generate finances, you don’t need illicit things like gambling and marijuana.
^^ casinos and marijuana are 2 different things. Casinos help wealthier tourists spend more of their money, legalizing marijuana instead means that the broke, young tourists get to enjoy their time with no fear of the police, as surely they are already smoking it regardless if it's illegal or not (they often bring it illegally from their home countries). No one should legalize marijuana to make some tourist 21 years old happy in my opinion. The gambling ban, I don't know if it's supposed to hit casinos, well if that's the case it should not because they make those British pensioners spend more money.

I will be in Kenya this January and researching about the towns in the coast I found that the tourism there is massive, many bars, restaurants and hotels opened by foreigners. This means that there are the basis to make that a hub for wealthy immigrants, digital nomads (people who work remotely while traveling) like Bali in Indonesia and Chiang Mai in Thailand already are. It already is the case but not to the tune of what is going on in SEA.

^^ Its at times a tactic by pick-pockets to board ferries, snatch handbags or people's personal effects, jump ship and swim to shore to avoid being mobbed, captured/arrested.

I understand. I hope all old ferries will be replaced soon, they purchased some new ones from Turkey if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway I was shocked to see how Kilifi town which is not even particularly turistic is just so nice. Many roads are in good conditions and have sidewalks, it's a relatively clean place.

This is the view from a 2 bedroom apartment that goes for 12'000 kes per month.

Why didn't they open up the entire road? The sidewalks have taken over.
