EDIT: The OFFICIAL new height of the building is 206 m

Yesterday, it has been officially started the construction of the tallest building (until Torre Santander construction starts during first quarter next year) in the Monterrey Area. It is known as "Pabellón Monterrey" and it will be 182 m in height and approximately 40 floors.

It is part of a bigger project aimed at redeveloping Monterrey's downtwown, which in the past decades was ignored in favour of newer neighbordhoods (Del Valle and others).

This is a render taken from Landa Arquitectos website (the architecture firm in charge of the project) originally posted by arq kenny west:

This mixed-use project, already under construction in Monterrey's downtown (historic and touristic district), consists of a 206 meters tall Tower, and an egg/bean shaped auditorium.

The following photomanipulation was made by user JoseR Calvi and it shows how the area is going to look like once Pabellon Monterrey (right) and Torre Santander (left, a new development recently annouced by Santander Global Property that is going to be 198m in height and starts during first quarter next year) are finished.

Photos taken from Monterrey's local Government website of the event to officially start the construction of the building.

According to the planned schedule, the building process will take almost three years (35 months), finishing in 2013 and it will cost almost US $100 millions.

^^

Thanks for sharing updated info about this thread, @sieradzanin1. This project seems to be resumed in the last two months or so, after being on hold for several months due to problems emerged at excavation site (due to water found there).

I think we are going to start to see the changes of this beautiful tower--it would also be interesting to see how they build the auditorium.

IT seems like it'll be a bit slow to actually build up the tower. According to people the structure is not going to be all steel, so that means it'll be slower. Hopefully like you said, we get to see the auditorium soon. I'm hoping that they actually don't wait til they're done with the main tower to do it.
