A bit of a specialised career question.

Hi everyone, just like to find out the chances of employement for someone (british born chinese, currently based in UK) who has a degree in web/multimedia design from the UK with english as a first language and basic spoken cantonese without reading or writing skills in cantonese. thanks.

Plus any good links for more info or stories from friends who have tried, positive or negative pls.

I would also like know what is the web/multimedia design scene like exactly over in HK, i've tried to do searches on the web for HK designers portfolios but there aren't many on show where as almost everyone has one back in UK. And if there are any they have all studied abroad in UK or typically in then US.

Thanks alot. :)

To tell you the truth, web/multimedia or even graphic design is quite difficult in Hong Kong. I have a friend whos a graphic designer in HK and she said openings are very few these days and pay is not high and working hours are extremely long. Anyways most graphic/web people in HK ended up in China because theres a demand there.

As commercially important as it is, it seems to me that Hong Kong doesn't have much of a cyber-media scene. Few Hong Kong companies have flashy websites.
