Hi guys and girls - let me present to you the old medieval town center of Køge - one of Denmark's best preserved "old towns" from the Middle Ages...

Or that is atleast what the Tourist Office want you to believe... :)

Køge itself ( pop ~35.000 ) is a small city located 40km south of Copenhagen city center - and is on the tip of the "urban finger" that follows the Køge bay...

The city - as mentioned above - features an well preserved old town where you'll find houses from all the way back to the the 1500's located around the city square and the pedestrian streets nearby.

Well enough talk - let's get this show started!

Great photos of a great historic nordic city :)

:cheers2:
It may be one of the most historic cities in Scandinavia.
Wonderful little place. Is there a train service to that town? Or everyone drives there.
Very cute town! I have some objections though about the use of the term “medieval”. The Middle Ages is the period between 1000 A.D. and the 15th century. Was Køge really built during that period?
/\ Propably founded then. And besides the middle ages came later to Scandinavia than rest of europe.
Despite looking a bit like a car showroom in the first shots, it seems to be a lovely place. I do like these cute Danish towns and especially the tudor structures.

Soon your summer is arriving with its massive cones of soft ice cream! Gotta love Denmark.

.
Very nice place by the look off it. I notice there are lot of cars there compared to Copenhagen, where I hardly saw any.

It's Denmark mate - there's trains from/to 4 directions ( Copenhagen, Roskilde, Næstved and Rødvig )

:)

The city is first mentioned in 1170 - but the near by stream was home to settlements from way before that...

The city was burned completely down in 1343 and much burned down again in 1633....

Seems to be a pretty nice small town. :) Reminds me a much of cute old german towns like Rothenburg (maybe also because of the masses of german cars there ^.^). Nice half timbered houses everywhere you looks... Should be a reason to visit it any day

Nice pics, thanks for sharing them!
