‘Multan to get metro bus next’

MULTAN: “The chief minister will announce a metro bus project for Multan during his visit to the city on Thursday (today),” DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal said on Wednesday.

He was addressing newsmen at the circuit house.

He said a Turkish firm and the Metro Bus Project managing director had proposed three routes for the metro bus in Mutlan and a final decision in this regard would be made after consultation with the city government.

Gondal said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was keen on early completion of the Faisalabad-Multan motorway.

He said the government had ordered him to issue notices on land acquisition for the Multan-Karachi motorway.

He said Rs90 million would be spent for the renovation of Old Shujaabad Road.

He said funds had also been allocated for renovation of public libraries including Bagh Langay Khan and Kuhna Qasim.

Metro Bus project in Multan will be inaugurated on August 14 this year.

MULTAN (Web Desk) - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said the 30-kilometer long route for Metro Bus project in Multan will be completed within a year, Dunya News reported.

The project would cost Rs 30 billion.

Talking to media at airport, the Chief Minister said the project will be inaugurated on August 14 this year.

The initiative will provide better transit facilities to the masses, he added.

The Chief Minister has also assured that transparency and quality will be ensured in the metro bus service project.

MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will perform ground breaking ceremony of Rs 30 billion metro bus project here on August 14.

The 30 kilometre metro project, to be completed within a year, would be built on modern lines like Dubai Metro Bus project.

Shahbaz said that feeder buses would also be plied at various metro stations to facilitate nearby community and added that it would also go with the main project.

The Metro Bus route will run on two routes connecting different areas of the city like Bahauddin Zakariya University, Chowk Kumharanwala and BCG Chowk. The first route will cover a distance of 19-km and the citizens will be able to travel between Bahauddin Zakariya University and Gaddafi chowk via Gulgasht, Chungi No-6, Chungi No-9 and Khanewal Road. The other route will run between Chungi No-9 and BCG Chowk and it will be 9-km-long. Sources said that over 20 modern stations will be constructed for passengers on these two routes.

Work on Multan Metro Bus to begin on August 14

MULTAN - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif declared on Thursday that the work on Multan Metro Bus project will begin in new financial year (2014-15) and Rs32 billion will be spent on 32-km long route.
Talking to the journalists here at Multan Airport and addressing members of provincial and national assemblies at Circuit House, he added that the Metro Project would be inaugurated on August 14 and Rs32 billion would be allocated in the coming budget as estimated cost for the project. He added that the project would be accomplished within one year. “I’ve visited the route personally and it will offer a good facility to the people,” he added. The Chief Minister issued order for constitution of a four-member committee comprising two MPAs and as many MNAs for finalizing different proposals on the project. He assured that the transparency and quality would be ensured in Metro Bus project.

The CM claimed that Multan would witness a major boost in economic activity after completion of Metro Bus project as it would help labourers, lawyers, students and all others reach their offices in time. “This project will bring positive changes in the economy of Multan,” he added.

Urban development: Shahbaz opens metro bus project in Multan

MULTAN:
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived at the Multan airport on Thursday morning to inaugurate the metro bus project in Multan. He said the metro bus will cover 30 kilometres. He said he had approved the cost of the project, which was Rs30 billion. He said he had ordered that it be completed as soon as possible. He said it would be inaugurated on August 14, 2015.
