First time I went to Lithuania and I should definitely revisit - I left with the feeling there was a lot more to see but time was short. Anyway:

The kitchiness of photographing one's embassy

The Lithuanian language seems...different :D

Went to an excellent brewery in the Republic

Oh yeah.. only Vilnius is a best city of Lithuania... Other cities is more worse :eek:hno:
It depends what you are looking for in those cities. If nightlife or cultural, historical places- then yes. But in summer Klaipėda and it's suburb Palanga are more interesting and live than Vilnius, also there are some museums and galleries in Kaunas, that vilnians envy- Čiurlionis gallery, Nature Museum, War Museum, Devils' Museum, etc.
In architectural sense, one of the most impressive baroque complex is Pažaislis church and monastery in Kaunas. Also, Klaipėda, that was a German city, offers to see hundreds of very impressive Bauhaus, Heimatstil and Jugendstil buildings You will find nowhere else in Lithuania and Kaunas has one of the biggest collection of Interwar Functionalism/Rationalism architecture in Europe.
Also Lithuanian town Druskininkai has indoor ski slope- the closest are in Moscow and on the German- Swiss border, so... Not to mention, this resort has lots of SPAs and one of the best Spa centres in Europe among them (Forbes, Ryanair magazine, Tripadvisor, ), Aquapark, Soviet Sculpture Park- Grūtas and other activities.
