Some images of Nairobi's very modern skyline. Many visitors from the west are surprised that such a skyline exists in Africa.

i've been to nairobi years ago ,and i find the city really cool and modern, especially in the downtown area ,looks closely to RSA cities, however in the suburbs you see the real face of eastern africa and overally african countries, te districts full of sheds and slums. anyway kenya is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been to and it's definetly worth seeing. does someone here have pics of mombasa-the second biggest city in kenya?

^ great pics of mombasa, never really saw it before
I'm impressed! Nairobi looks huge and so beautiful! Definetly worth a visit. Could someone tell me more about tourist attractions in Kenya? :)
Too bad the government is utterly corrupt. The pics make it look like a normal country.
^how is it not a normal country, what so abnormal about it
it has a surprising skyline, I agree.
^ well their are plenty of african cities with similar skylines so it's not suprising to me
Cool pics. I've always had a good image of Kenya. It should be mentioned that Kenya and much of East Africa have a long history as a part of Civilization, with written language centuries before European arrival. They wrote Swahili in Arabic script.

stop being so sensitive. most people around the world do not view africa and africans as being equal (though few will admit or realize it except for obvious racists). that is why they are surprised every time they discover any man-made thing of value, ie. skycrapers and modern architecture, indigenous writing or textiles, etc.
As a forum member, I already knew about this skyline of course. It is probably the best in Africa outside South Africa.

I would say Abidjan, Ivory Coast has a better skyline, and Port louis is right on the heels of Nairobi

I agree with you, it just gets annoying everytime an african city is shown most of the comments are about how suprising people are, like africa is nothing but mud huts to them.

i just try to ignore that and educate them. also keep in mind your own predudices when it comes to africa - in my own afrocentric research i am occassionally surprised, although not as much as i used to be or others still are.
