Finally some news of this long talked about Civic Centre project in Delhi.

Did any Indian newspaper carry the news?

IJM wins India contract

IJM Corp Bhd won a contract worth RM474mil to build a civic centre in New Delhi, its second project in India in a month.

The project involves the construction of a 3-level basement car park, four six-story buildings and a 28-story tower block, IJM said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

The civic centre would be built on a 12-acre site opposite the Delhi Stock Exchange, it said.

MALAYSIA’S fourth largest construction company, IJM Corp Bhd, has secured a RM474 million development project in New Delhi, India, from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The company told Bursa Malaysia Bhd that it had received a letter of intent (LOI) from the corporation for the construction and completion of the Civic Centre at the intersection of Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Minto Road in New Delhi, opposite the Delhi Stock Exchange.

IJM said the works order will be issued after the submission of a performance guarantee amounting to 5 per cent of the contract sum within 15 days of the LOI.

The construction period is 36 months from the date of the works order.

The Civic Centre, with a total built-up area of 116,000 sq m, will comprise a three-level basement car park, four six-storey building blocks and a 28-storey tower block.

The company said the Civic Centre will be using state-of- the-art technology to optimise energy requirements, enable entitled user access and ensure adequate security of the premises.

Suncity, while driving in Delhi, I saw the construction site, and there was a board showing how the building will look. Don't know when I will go to Delhi next though, last time round I left my camera behind.
Shame on you Kshatriya!

Never leave your camera behind, anywhere you go in India ;)
Haha...yeah, well I actually forgot to pack it in the last minute rush. :)

You can see the Malaysian touch in this project. A bit 80's look though!
hey drwho you found the render! :)

So a 100m addition to Delhi. I quite like it. :)
That looks nice! Great find DrWho. Now hopefully this gets built. Some old news items talked of a waterfall from the top floor coming down to the lobby level. Wonder if that's still gonna happen.

well, this article was written on 3 of June,

http://cities.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=132390

New Delhi, June 3: IN the pipeline for 15 years, inaugurated in 1994, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Rs 545-crore Civic Center is on hold again—this time, it’s waiting for a simple nod from Sonia Gandhi’s office.
The Civic Centre, with a total built-up area of 116,000 sq m, will comprise a three-level basement car park, four six-storey building blocks and a 28-storey tower block.
isnt that quite modest for the times. i guess it was ok when it was conceptualised in the 80s but delhi has a chance to have an iconic skyscraper in the heart of the city, maybe they could have made a 40 storey building at least
IT would better if it was TALLER!!!!!!!!
looks like a building that i saw in a pic of torronto in canada. that one looked much better though, dont know whats its called....... :)
The thing looks like an 80s retro holiday inn.. :sleepy:
They should have increased the height to atleast 45. A shame though. Looks quite plain, nothing special. Since it is not in our hands, we should just be happy that is bieng constructed.
looks like still in the early stages.

when's the completion date set for?
