The Queensland Government is advancing the delivery of a new sports facility to support Queensland's netball community.
Located in Nathan at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, the new Queensland State Netball Centre will support netball players and teams at all levels from clubs, schools and junior development programs to seniors and representative players. The centre will also be a permanent home to the Queensland Firebirds.
Features of the centre will include:
a sunken show court with 5000 seat capacity from where major game events will be broadcast
a cafe and food and beverage outlets
player and umpire changing facilities for both community and elite athletes
a gymnasium
sports science and sports medicine facility for elite athlete activities
administration offices and parking facilities for Netball Queensland.
Hansen Yuncken were appointed in February 2017 as the contractor for this design and construct project and commenced construction mid-2017.
The department is leading the infrastructure delivery, working in partnership with Stadiums Queensland.
