New Dodger Stadium?

Many people criticize Dodger Stadium's location as transit-unfriendly. So if you can build a new Dodger Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles, where would it go?

This interactive map allows you to place Dodger Stadium (as well as a handful of other stadia) in a location of your choosing!

Where it is now and build the Silver (Sunset) Line there.
Where it is now but turned around so that it faces downtown, :D

That will never happen. The MTA or whatever construction authority will require that the Dodgers pay for the section that goes on/under private land which is the stadium and the parking lot area, and they will not pay for it. the MTA will not pay for it because it's private land. Sorry, that's reality.

Even if someone will pay for it, its elevation will slow down the line, and in the months between November and March a Dodger Stadium station wouldl hardly be of any use to anyone.

The best the existing stadium can have is a Hollywood Bowl-type bus system from remote park and rides.

Remember people complained that the Green Line didn't serve The Forum? Three years later, Staples Center, end of matter.

I support rail transit all the way but you have to understand reality.

I would built a new arena on the lot where Belmont High is being built. The High school is costing LAUSD way too much and they need there going broke. Sell the land to Dodgers, LLC and make a profit and do somehing good for the City of Angelitos!!!! Woohoo.

And what rail line goes there, or is even planned to go there?

Batters will not appreciate the sun shining directly on their faces.
Petco Park sits nicely on top of the Red line yards where 4th Place and 4th Street meet.

Build the stadium on top of the rail yard and open an Artist District/Dodger Stadium stop.

All part of restoring the LA River and creating a "River District"

There's lots to be gained from both parties in such a deal, depending on what is done with Chavez Ravine.

NO NOT PETCO!!! ACKKK PTOOEY!!!

A new Dodger Stadium would have to be a faithful replica of the original! At least from the inside. The outside can be different (Ebbets Field -like?)

My favorite place was along Mission Road, where the UP Intermodal Facility sits. It's a huge plot of land, and if a light rail line (proposed Silver Line Concept) gets built...presto! You also get a view of the mountains.

My second choice was to build it just east of the Chinatown Station. Somehow North Main would either be rerouted or would have to go under the stadium. Again, similar mountain view.

I heard that McCourt wanted a City Walk type mall around the stadium, so it actually would be of use.

coverup the 11o-1o1 interchange, while burring an eyesore it would provide some nice prime real estate land to plop in a new stadium!
^^Bury history? The world's first stack interchange and you want to get rid of it?
no no no! it would still be there, just under ground

whatever. its not like i really want to see it happen. why cant the damned stadium just stay were it is. save money and land!
And what rail line goes there, or is even planned to go there?

^ It's right smack in the middle of Downtown for crying out loud. You have many choices in bus service incl. Dash to connect you to Union Station for easy access to train service. Hey even a cab ride to the nearest station or parking structure would only cost a few bucks and all riders ride for the price of one, so split the cost!

I meant the stadium size is comparable. You can choose which ballpark shape you want on the map by click to the left of the screen.

Oh how I wish we could bury that interchange, those in East LA and the I-5 that separates Griffith Park from the LA River...among many others.

I thought they already had a Dodgers Stadium shuttle from union station. I know the traffic to the stadium is bad, so maybe a dedicated busway from Chinatown, Union Station, and future silver line stations could help. Elevated shuttles, something.
There's a Dodger Stadium shuttle? That's news to me... but isn't the Silver line supposed to have a station especially for Dodger Stadium, or am I mistaken. If not there should be a special Monorail connecting you to the nearest train station to Chavez Ravine.
^^You and your monorails.

There would be a Silver Line stop for Dodger Stadium, but it would stop at the corner of Sunset and Elysian Park. There would need to be something to get people to the stadium. If the mall that is planned is built, then it would be great to have and actually necessary because that mall would take out a lot of parking.

Btw, the shuttle from Union Station to Dodger Stadium is no longer in service.

on a complete side note, would it be possible to create a few multi level parking structures up there instead of the single sheet of never ending pavment that is currently at the top of the hill?

the new land could be used to expand the park? or add more development?

but i guess leaving an event might be a tad bit harder, i dont even know what the current exit route is.
