An application has been submitted for Short Term Accommodation at the corner of Upper Roma Street and Eagle Terrace.

Don't know of any other details or even if it is highrise.

Could be one to watch.

^^ Finally! Brisbane is in need of about 20 more proposals like this because of the huge lack of hotel vacancies, i mean at the moment there's just nothing. Didn't the Hilton have a 1% vacancy rate last month because of a trucking expo?

There is another street called Eagle Terrace that intersects with Upper Roma Street. It's about 50m long and is near where North Quay starts and Corro Drive finishes.

Sorry, made a mistake at the start of the thread.

It is a pretty small site, dodgy computer/LAN/internet cafe place. It is surrounded completely by that Shell servo that all the cabbies use. Not too appealing for a 5star hotel!!

Unless they meant the other corner, where that random Coke machine exists next to an otherwise bare brick wall of a building.

Yeah I shouldn't have written Hotel in the title. It only ever said short term accommodation.

We need more backpakers still though. Won't be too bad.

By looking at the Approval dated 16th Feburary, they are just adding another level on the building to make a final height of around 20-22m.

Who knows what the new MCU Application is for.

^^That was the initial application and a new one has been submitted with no extra details. If the new one is similar, then the thread is useless, otherwise it could be worthwhile.

This is the old pool hall that hey have painted a bright jade colour with white highlights in a similar fashion to the orange one further up the street. Interesting colour choice, it certainly stands out. While its not the most attractive building, I am amazed that the roof deck has nice glass banisters yet they have used really bad aluminium window shades that look like second hand ones from the 70s!!!!

Was this the 30 floor hotel they had a small render of in today's Sunday Mail?

You could see the Tourism Queensland building in the background.
