كشف رئيس مجلس ادارة الشركة التجارية العقارية الكويتية عبدالفتاح معرفي‮ ‬عن توجه الشركة لزيادة استثماراتها في‮ ‬مملكة البحرين بما‮ ‬يمكن ان‮ ‬يتجاوز الـ ‮٠٥ ‬مليون دينار خلال السنوات القليلة القادمة‮.‬
وقال معرفي‮ ‬في‮ ‬تصريحات خاصة بـ‮ »‬الأيام الاقتصادي‮« ‬على هامش احتفال الشركة امس بطرح صكوك اجارة بقيمة ‮٠٠١ ‬مليون دولار امريكي‮ ‬من مملكة البحرين،‮ ‬ان هناك توجها قويا للشركة لزيادة استثماراتها العقارية في‮ ‬كامل منطقة الخليج وبالاخص في‮ ‬مملكة البحرين التي‮ ‬تشهد نموا مطردا في‮ ‬هذا القطاع‮.‬
وبالاضافة إلى مشروع تطوير عين عذاري‮ ‬الذي‮ ‬نجحت الشركة في‮ ‬حيازة نصيب جيد من عملية الاستثمار فيه والبالغة قيمتها ‮٦ ‬ملايين دينار بحريني،‮ ‬اشار معرفي‮ ‬إلى مشروعين كبيرين‮ ‬يتوقع ان تدخلهما الشركة قريبا بالتعاون مع وزارة البلديات والزراعة ومتمثلين في‮ ‬مشروعين ضخمين‮ ‬يقام أولهما في‮ ‬المنطقة الدبلوماسية والآخر في‮ ‬شارع الخليفة بوسط المنامة‮.‬
وتوقع ان تصل تكلفة هذين المشروعين إلى ما‮ ‬يتجاوز الـ ‮٠٣ ‬مليون دينار بحريني‮.‬

I saw pics of this a while ago and I didn't want to post it since nothin new was heard of the project, but now since news were released today, here are the ones I found (not that great but better than nothin):

according to alayam newspaper today, the final touch is being put on the design and construction shall start in 2 month and finishes just before 2006.

Let's hope so and it doesn't get delayed any further for stupid reasons.

Foundation stone will be laid on the 11th of may, the total area for the park is 165,000 sq. m and the cost is BD. 9 million. The ceremony will have a gallery of old pics of the park.

Good, Ive been to it, the place is full of history, unlike other places in the gulf...

Second phase of park to begin
MUNICIPALITIES and Agriculture Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh will lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the BD9.1 million Adhari multi-purpose theme park today.

The 165,319 sq m new park will feature a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, a game's arcade, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum.

WORK on the BD9.1 million Adhari multi-purpose theme park began yesterday. The park is part of the second phase to revive the Adhari area, which hosts one of Bahrain's most renowned landmarks - Ain Adhari.

The natural freshwater spring was renovated and opened to the public 20 months ago while the new-look park will be ready by December next year.

Municipalities and Agriculture Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh laid the foundation stone for the second phase in a ceremony attended by Electricity and Water Minister Shaikh Abdulla bin Salman Al Khalifa, Works and Housing Minister Fahmi Al Jowder, MPs, Shura Council members and municipal councillors.

The new park will be built on an area measuring 165,319sq m and will feature a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, a games arcade, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum.

The project will be completed by Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer) and Kuwaiti Markets and Commercial Complexes Company, which has been contracted to run the park for 30 years.

Mr Al Saleh said a lot of effort has been exerted by his ministry to revive the area, which is considered an important part of Bahrain's rich heritage.

"The pool has been recently renovated and hopefully this new family recreational facility will be a welcome addition to it," he said.

"This new facility will provide job opportunities to 140 Bahrainis."

The project, said Mr Al Saleh, was the fruit of successful co-operation between the ministry and the municipal councils.

"We will continue working together in the interests of the people and hopefully similar projects will materialise soon," he said.

Municipalities Under-Secretary Dr Juma Al Kaabi said the ministry was dedicated to preserving well-known historical and traditional sites.

Northern Municipal Council chairman Sayed Majeed Al Sayed said the council has diligently followed up and supervised everything related to the park's development and will continue to do so.

"We have made sure that the park would be up to people's expectations, since those working on it have successfully managed similar projects elsewhere," he said.

Others who spoke at the ceremony included executive director Mohammed Al Tawash and the Kuwaiti company board president Tawfeeq Al Jarrah, who pledged to ensure that the project was in line with Bahrain's future developmental plans.

They also promised a 100 per cent Bahrainisation rate until their contract expired, after 30 years.

Yesterday's ceremony also included the screening of a documentary on the historic site and renovations it has undergone over the years.

It also featured a photography exhibition of the pool as well as the project's blueprints.

In September last year, the historic park was reopened to the public.

The pool and the surrounding area were renovated and a mosque built at a cost of BD60,000.

Until a decade ago, the pool was one of the most popular recreation sites in Bahrain.

At present, it is open from 9am to 9pm.

Paramedics, lifeguards and police patrols are available to ensure the safety of visitors.

The pool will stay open for free, even after the investors take charge.

The whole project was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad and is being overseen by the Northern Municipal Council and the Northern Municipality.

I know Obi you have posted this in the business section, here is the article again just to highlight when was the last time we posted here. Man this project is really delayed for a long time, now people have to wait till 2007, oh well.

Very nice, but they really have to be careful in how they develop this project. Adhari park is a big part of Bahrainis history and they shoudl be careful not to destroy it.

أكدت مصادر مطلعة لـ(أخبار الخليج) أنه من المقرر افتتاح مشروع منتزه عين عذاري الجديد في شهر يونيو 2006م، وذلك بعد تطوير المشروع بكلفة تقدر بأكثر من 9.1 ملايين دينار بحريني، كما أن المشروع الجديد سيوفر ما يزيد على 410 فرص عمل للمواطنين.

وتشتمل خطة التطوير على إنشاء مناطق للألعاب وبحيرات واستراحات ومجمع تجاري ومطاعم ومتحف علمي للأطفال، بالإضافة إلى صالة ألعاب ترفيهية ومركز للبولينج، ويعتبر المشروع نقلة نوعية في طريق دعم السياحة العائلية علاوة على تحديد موقع المملكة كمركز استثماري سياحي. ويأتي تنفيذ هذا المشروع في إطار توجيهات القيادة الرشيدة لتطوير السياحة العائلية وزيادة المسطحات الخضراء واعتبار هذا المشروع الترفيهي والاستثماري خطوة أساسية ضمن خطة الوزارة نحو تحقيق توجيهات جلالة الملك وسمو رئيس الوزراء في دعم وجذب الاستثمارات في مختلف قطاعات التنمية العمرانية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية. يذكر أنه تم تنفيذ المرحلة الأولى من مشروع التطوير والمتمثل في إعادة تأهيل عين عذاري والمرافق المجاورة، ويعد مشروع منتزه عين عذاري مشروعا حيويا كما أنه من أكبر مشاريع المنتزهات في المملكة.

Is it really going to be open in june 2006?

Fabulous.

I think this is a nice project for families in Bahrain. It is really nice for Bahrain to care for their heritage. We really need more of that in the GCC especially with the skyscraper craze we have right now.

This wont be a disneyland kinda of theme park but it will be nice to walk and sit in it and take ur children there...

أكد المدير التنفيذي لتطوير الاعمال، نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة الخليج للتعمير، محمد عبدالخالق انه تم البدء في المرحلة الثانية من مشروع منتزه عذاري وسيكون الافتتاح الجزئي في نهاية هذا العام 2006 والانتهاء الكامل من المرحلة في النصف الأول من عام.2007

وعزا التأخير في تنفيذ المرحلة الثانية الى امور فنية ترجع الى كون الموقع قديما واقيم عليه العديد من الانشطة مما يتطلب المزيد من الوقت لإزالتها وتصنيفها، وقد تداركت الشركة هذا الامر بالعمل مع جميع الجهات المعنية وايجاد الحلول المناسبة، مشيرا الى ان العمل بدأ في المشروع منذ عدة اشهر. ويذكر ان المرحلة الثانية من المشروع تكلف 9.1 ملايين دينار، ومساحة المشروع 165.319 مترا مربعا وتتضمن إنشاء ألعاب وبحيرات واستراحات ومجمع تجاري ومتحف للطفل وصالة ألعاب ترفيهية. ويوفر المشروع 140 فرصة عمل للمواطنين علاوة على تعزيز موقع المملكة كمركز استثماري سياحي. وقال: إن منتزه عذاري يطل على مدخلين: احدهما على شارع الشيخ عيسى بن سلمان والآخر على شارع الشيخ سلمان (القديم)، وللشركة (حق الانتفاع) بالمشروع مدة 30 عاما بموجب نظام بي او تي.

Adhari park work on track

THE BD12 million Adhari amusement park currently under construction is nearing completion, it was revealed yesterday.

Outdoor rides and facilities are set to open to the public by the end of the year, while the park as whole is scheduled to be ready by mid next year.

The 165,000 square metre park will feature outdoor rides, including a roller coaster, go-kart track and an air-conditioned monorail as well as indoor rides, snooker, bowling, and arcades.

Also planned are an interactive children's museum, an aqua park, two artificial lakes, lakefront restaurants, prayer halls, and a multi-purpose celebration hall.

"This is going to be one of the best entertainment projects in the GCC, especially since we have hired some of the best contractors and suppliers," said Projacs International vice-president Nasser Kanaan, whose firm is managing the project.

Owner: Kuwait Commercial Market Complex Company – Al Khaleej Development Company

Budget: Estimated $32 million

Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a roller-coaster, water-park, children’s play area, a mini-golf course, bowling arena, a game arcade and dining areas with development area of 165.320 sq m. A public park will be featuring restaurants, stores, a zoo, an amphitheatre and hotel. The development is located at Al Hunayniyah valley in Riffa.

Status: Sources indicate that construction work is scheduled to complete in mid-2007. The budget has been increased to $31.8 million.
