SP Shukhobrishti in Action Area – III, New Town, Kolkata is a mass housing project.

Built on an area of 150 acres, the township – SP Shukhobrishti, aims to provide affordable homes with facilities usually associated with high-end residential complexes. There are 20,000 apartments that are divided into two enclaves – ‘Spandan’ (1 - BHK) and ‘Sparsh’ (2 - BHK).

SP Shukhobrishti will be home to nearly 1,00,000 people with completion of 20,000 residential apartments. As per Urban Ministry norms, this can be termed as a “B” class municipality.

SP Shukhobrishti will have 73% of the area open to the sky.

Spandan (1 BHK)

A residential complex in SP Shukhobrishti comprising 12,000 apartments, built on stilt (parking) plus four floors with walk up stairs.

Sparsh (2BHK)

A residential complex in SP Shukhobrishti comprising 8000 apartments; built on stilt (parking) plus 14 floors, with two lifts in each building.

Not really.
A second arterial road ( probably 6+2) to join the main one is underconstruction as shown in the map. There is already a 6 lane flyover over the Bagjola canal. All they need to do is to construct two approaches from the site to the second arterial road. I am guessing they may construct another flyover bridge over the canal soon to facilitate faster movement.

In the map below you can see a link from the road to

Anyone having latest pictures for Sukhobristi. Any idea what is the best road to reach there.

Bharat
A google earth view of the site. Not sure how old is the pic.

Hey Sun, What do you mean by mass housing? Is it for poor people?
It's a shame that despite being one of India's largest housing projects of its kind, there is so little information about this project.

Nothing much on Shapoorji's website. Looks like they are not very proud of their achievements - at least not in their website - be it the Imperial Towers (India's tallest buildings) or the Sukhobrishti.

And where are the reporters? I am sure if there was some negative news they would have promptly written some news with silly lines like "Buddha's much hyped dream township...."
You need projects like these in india....china was able to feed its 1 billion people by own and india could do that too.
Any update

Anyone having any update on this project, Please.

Thanks & Regards,
I am not sure whats the update on the project,
does anyone has any idea?

^^thanks, this is all I could see. I believe there are some mid-rise (~G+10) or so under construction as well. As far as roads are concerned there are none for the moment.
