45 Broad is going supertall: http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2016/01/06/planned_1100foot_86story_tower_will_rise_at_45_broad_st.php

The previous Nobu Tower development which was on hold for several years has been replaced by the site's new owner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Previously as Nobu Tower:

Moed de Armas & Shannon designed the curvy exterior.
It's planned for lower Manhattan - the Financial District.
I'm not sure of the status but it seems likely. It's going to be over 200 meters tall and seems like another green tower.

Fate of Nobu: Sadly the property was caught up in the Lehman Brothers collapse in 2008 and had been going through the various legal and administrative channels as a new developer is sought and a restart attempted:

Nobu Hotel and Residences will be a 65 story building at 45 Broad Street. The building will be built in the Financial District in New York City. The building will be eco friendly using wind power and recycling its water. The building is expect to be complete by 2010 and will rise to 650 feet. The building will feature a 128 room hotel from floors 1-41. Floors 41-62 will be Condos and Homes. The building will feature a Club a Spa and an Outdoor Terrace. The other floors will be used as Retail, Stores, Restaurants, and an observation deck at the 65 floor. The building has more than 13,000 sq feet of space. The building will be designed by the Rockwell Group. The building will be made with transparent glass with a 6 story base.

Nobu Hotel and Residences at 45 Broad Street
Developers: Robert De Niro, Kent Swig, and Nobu Matsuhisa

When the news broke in May 2008 that Robert De Niro’s upscale Nobu restaurant chain would open a Japanese-themed hotel and condo in the Financial District, it sounded like a sweet deal: mini-bars with green tea and sake, room service from the Nobu restaurant, and stores and an observation deck on the top floor. But construction of the eco-friendly, 65-story tower at 45 Broad Street—a joint venture by Swig Equities, Mr. De Niro, and star chef Nobu Matsuhisa—has stalled. Lehman Brothers tried to foreclose on the project in January 2009, claiming that Mr. Swig had defaulted on at least $49.2 million in loans.

While the lawsuit is still ongoing, Mr. Swig’s attorney issued a blistering response to the complaint in May 2009: “[Lehman’s] bankruptcy derailed, if not doomed, the Project, causing among other things, a termination of discussions between the parties, depriving 25 Broad and 45 Broad of further financing, preventing further development of the Project, and blocking further development of the 45 Broad Property. Lehman has successfully implemented the scheme and avoided its obligations.”

Meanwhile, the developers are also fighting battles on other fronts. Lehman—not sated with dooming just one of Mr. Swig’s hotels—is also filing to foreclose on his Exchange Condominium at 25 Broad Street. The first Nobu Hotel, which was supposed to debut last summer in Tel Aviv, has also seen its opening delayed, though the Web site insists, “Construction of the hotel has already started and the hotel will be open in summer 2010.”

I think you're right and we'll be seeing more and more of taller and not as fat buildings as the years pass because Manhattan Island is almost out of
developable space.

We got a correct height, it seems: 216 meters to the roof, I'm very sure.

There's over a dozen buildings in lower Manhattan alone with a 200m+ roof that or u/c or about to go up. It will be a much, much greater and bigger skyline when compared to what it was in 2000.

Looks nice, but it is really REALLY thin, I would love to see floorplans to see how much of the floor is usable space... :)

I don't think I've ever seen a building this thin. Looks cool.

1 times square is thinner, but not as tall. I just hope it has good fire protection. So thin a fire on one floor blocks the escape from the ones above?

Nobu sushi chain to open hotel, condos in downtown NYC

Nobu, the pricey sushi restaurant chain, is branching out into the hotel business.

A developer plans to build a 62-story glass tower near the New York Stock Exchange that will house a 128-room, five-star hotel; 77 luxury condominiums and the city's fourth Nobu restaurant.

Nobu Hotel and Residences would be the first Nobu hotel in the country; another is being developed in Herzliya Marina along Israel's Mediterranean coast.

A transparent glass facade at the 650-foot tower's base would rise six stories, while the restaurant, Nobu at 45 Broad, will be on the third floor, according to the developer, Swig Equities. The tower will feature film screening rooms, private wine and sake cellars and a 13,000-square-foot health club.

Construction of the tower is expected to begin later this year and the hotel should open two years later, the developer said.

Nobu, co-owned by actor Robert De Niro, has more than a dozen upscale restaurants across the world, including three in midtown and downtown Manhattan.
