4 World Trade Center - 150 Greenwich Street

Mr. Maki’s Tower 4 at 150 Greenwich Street, between Cortlandt and Liberty Streets, is the most understated of the lot, with a sheer curtain wall. The 61-story tower rises for most of its height as a parallelogram and then, nearly 700 feet in the sky, it becomes a trapezoid, reaching an overall height of 975 feet, with no antennas. The upper part of the facade inclines toward the towers to the north and is meant as a unifying gesture.

Does anyone know what's going on with the floor below the setback? On earthcam, it appears that there are some weird lights on the floor.

IS every new WTC tower is going to have its on fountain. so far 7 and 4 WTC have their own personal fountain. Just like their predecessors except it was one big fountain for all 7 towers . Wonder if they are bring The Bronze Sphere back to its rightful place.

It's blue, like the lobby of 7 WTC.

How odd.......

This curbedny photo makes it look like Cortlandt St will NOT be opening tmrw.
As long as there is construction ongoing at the tower 3 site, Cortlandt Street won't open. Let's keep our fingers crossed that construction doesn't stop there in the near future ^^

Thanks for the link to these gorgeous pics btw!

Will Femia did a very goo job with the photos.

I assume somebody else will provide more photos from today's opening ceremony. I decided to wait till tomorrow, when temps are forecast to be 10 degrees warmer...

It's not flashy or ground breaking in design but the glass reflection is amazing and it does blend in, and have a graceful, quiet dignity. As I have posted before, when all four are built out it will be quite impressive taken as a whole, and I think WTC2 will be the most beloved centerpiece in the view of the public.

Congratulations! 4 World Trade Center is now complete. I love how this country can get back up after a terrorist attack of these proportions. I think we can all agree that this building turned out to be much better than the renderings.

The Real Deal:

I am so happy that this is the second tower in the World Trade Center Complex that has opened. Now we just need 3 buildings (one of which will be completed really soon): One, Two, and Three World Trade Center.

Looks like Greenwich St still has barriers

The AP photo below (looking south down Greenwich St today) seems to show that there are still barriers on Greenwich St at the north side of Liberty.
Was anybody there today who could make a comment?

One thing I don't get with the site, some building numbers are missing as everyone just talks about one, two and three. What about five and six?

Some of this has to do with how the buildings were numbered on the old WTC site. Since the site for 7WTC was the first rebuilt - 7 was the number it received.

5 is a proposed tower on the lot South of the Vehicular Security Center and Othodox Church being built. Some of this area is currently being used as the queue for the memorial security, tickets, etc. Don't expect to see this one built until 3 and 2 are on their way up/finished.

6 may represent the new Performing Arts Center. (I am unsure if this center will utilize the numeral as their identity, or simply be known as a performing arts center.) This will not be built until after the Transportation Hub is complete, the temporary PATH station is removed, and the underground connection from 1WTC to the VSC is completed. It will sit where the temporary PATH station is now.
