Skyscrapers do not waste space, they crate one. If you read my post, I was referring to the lot not the building. The lot is huge and if could easily accommodate another two supertalls which would most likely be the case if it was situated in central midtown or uptown. Manhattan's west side, south of 42nd street is either old warehouses, mechanic shops or stables which will soon give way to entirely new neighborhood. Zoning lows should allow for much higher density that what it is now.How on Earth a 106-story building with 1400 apartments and a huge retail podium can be a waste of space? There are very few buildings in the whole world with such a big scale.
