^^I considered the same a few years ago, alas it would make too much sense today. The same could have been done for the Warren & Wetmore mid-rise facing Grand Central Terminal, which was intended to complement it as part of the Terminal City plan. Instead, we're getting a glass wall at the foot of admittedly a great tower, but difficult to appreciate at the human scale.
At least the Commodore Hotel/Grand Hyatt is reversible to an extent, but idiots of the world prefer something like two Shanghai Tower lookalikes briged by a cockring suspended over Grand Central Terminal.
