Most of these were taken in SoHo, both along Broadway, and along the narrow streets west of Broadway, and north of Canal. This is the heart of cast iron New York. The use of load bearing iron walls in some buildings, allowed for large expanses of glass in the facades, pointing towards the glass wall that would become prevalent years later in steel framed buildings.

Scholast Building located in SoHo

Wow, fantastic, I notice one photo it is the Scholastic building which has a red facade designed by the Italian Architect Aldo Rossi.
